THE DEPORTEE'S WIFE: A STORY OF TWO WORLDS
• Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2009
• Time: 6:00 - 8:00pm in Foss Center (Free)

In this solo show, Giselle Stern Hernández's marriage is laid out on the front lines of the North American immigration debate. Giselle's husband Roberto was deported from Chicago back to Mexico in 2001, and ordered to stay out of the U.S. for twenty years. Giselle was born and raised in the States and they were legally married. But with all that didn't prevent the pain and sadness in the lives of Roberto and Giselle living in two worlds.

In THE DEPORTEE'S WIFE, Giselle takes the audience through her journey facing hard truths about how race, class, privilege and gender intersect within the U.S. immigration system. Through words and images, Giselle reveals her very personal and complicated emotional story.
