Free BBQ June 9

It's finally summer and it's time to enjoy the weather with a bbq! On Tuesday June 9 at 6:00 p.m. Residence Life will be sponsoring a free bbq in Murphy Park for all Augsburg students, faculty, and staff. There will be food, music, and activities (if you have any games you would like to bring, please feel free!). Keeping Track of Auggies

English Prof at GLBT Pride Reading

Professor Carla-Elaine Johnson of the English Department is participating in QUEER VOICES: A SPECIAL GLBT PRIDE READING this coming Sunday. Here is the information on the event:

Intermedia Arts is partnering this month with the Guthrie Theater to present Queer Voices: A SPECIAL GLBT PRIDE READING. The reading features some of the finest and award-winning queer writers in the Twin Cities, including Andrea Jenkins, John Medeiros, Jonathan Odell, Doug Federhart, Elijah Rose, Rebecca Frost, Terrance Griep, Jacqueline White, Melanie Hoffert, KateLynn Hibbard, Edmond Manning, Jane Levin, Carla-Elaine Johnson, Ann Freeman, Ali Sands, Randy Stern, Charlotte Sullivan, Morgan Grayce Willow, and Michael Walsh.

Event is free and open to the public.

The Queer Voices Reading Series, presented by Intermedia Arts and Hamline University, celebrates the rich diversity of queer voices that make up the Twin Cities community of writers, readers, and their audiences, offering public readings by both emerging and established local writers and poets.

If you're a golfer, there are several opportunities to support Augsburg athletics this summer, with numerous fundraising golf tournaments. In addition to golfing opportunities, there are also options for businesses and individuals to sponsor holes or donate prizes for raffle drawings.

The 46th annual Clair Strommen A-Club Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 29 at the Gopher Hills Golf Course in Cannon Falls, Minn. Registration is at 10:30 a.m., with shotgun start for golf at 12 p.m. and a social, dinner and raffle at 5 p.m. Cost is $100 per person ($400 per foursome). The 12th annual Ed Saugestad Men's Hockey Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 15 at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn. Registration is at 11 a.m., with shotgun start for golf at 1 p.m. Dinner and raffle will begin at 6 p.m. Cost is $125 per person. The 16th annual Jeff Swenson and John Grygelko Wrestling Golf Classic will be held on Friday, July 10 at the Gopher Hills Golf Course in Cannon Falls, Minn. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., with shotgun start for golf at 1 p.m. Lunch, dinner, awards ceremony and raffle will follow. Cost is $100 per person. The Edor Nelson Football Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, July 17 at Manitou Ridge Golf Course in White Bear Lake, Minn.
