Cash Prize for your Writing

Do you have an academic paper you're particularly proud of?

It might be worth even more than the grade you received.

The Augsburg Honors Review wants to publish your work. All you have to do is submit it!

What to Submit:
We will consider papers from all disciplines that successfully articulate an original and compelling thesis.

Why Submit?
Being a published author is one of the best ways to demonstrate your writing skills to graduate schools, professional schools, and employers.

How to Submit:
Please send your work to review@augsburg.edu and include the following information:

-- The first and last names of all authors and faculty advisors,
-- Your anticipated graduation date,
-- A reliable way to contact you other than your college-provided email address,
-- The name of the institution where your research was conducted (if other than Augsburg), and
-- The title of your paper.

We prefer Microsoft Word format (.doc) for all attachments.

Submit your work by 10 AM on April 26, 2009, to be eligible for a $100 prize! Contact Shawn Boonstra (boonstra@augsburg.edu) for details and eligibility restrictions.

What is the Augsburg Honors Review?
The Augsburg Honors Review is an interdisciplinary journal exhibiting outstanding work by undergraduate students. The goal of the AHR is to give students the opportunity to participate in scholarly conversations within their disciplines and to expose them to the dialogue between a journal and a contributor in editing an article for publication.

For more information, please contact Shawn Boonstra (boonstra@augsburg.edu).

Mac Laptop for Sale - Cheap

I recently got a new laptop(gasp- a PC). I no longer need my tried and true Mac. It is a Macbook, circa 2002. (white, square-shaped, approx. 13 inch screen) I know it sounds old, but it runs fine! Because of its age there are a few things to consider:

-The laptop battery is dead. This can be replaced, or you can plan to use the power cord.
-I have not used it for internet in 4+ years, although last year when I brought it to the library I was able to get on the network. It does have an Airport card in it so it has wireless capability, but it needs to be upgraded to more recent versions of Explorer or whatever you use. I have a desktop at home that I have used for internet and this is the reason why I have not upgraded.
-I am not sure of the exact amount of memory. It currently has about 5,000 songs stored on the hard-drive in iTunes format. Also a few hundred word docs. This should give you an idea. I will clean it out before I pass it on to you.
-It has everything you need to write papers, Word, Excel, etc. It runs the OSX (operating system). The versions are old, from the last time I upgraded it in approx. 2005.
-I have never had issues with viruses, and never once has it crashed or gone awry.

Therefore, you get a deal! I am asking $90 or best offer. If you are interested please contact me at nugent@augsburg.edu. I work on campus so I can easily get it to you. Once I hear from you I will need a few days to clean it out for you. Any questions, feel free to ask!

I'm in the process of moving and remodeling, and looking for the following items - want to empty your basement/garage/dorm and make a deal? If you have anything, call me at 612-701-8346

- Larger sized 'mini fridge' - this is a special project, and it needs to have internal measurements of 9" deep, 18" wide, and 26" high. You have something that might work?
- Gas dryer, doesn't have to be so special
- Dry wall, studs, plywood, particle board
- Electrical conduit, boxes, outlets, etc
- Tiles, carpet
- Actually, anything for constructing a new apartment space. We need the first two things right away, and then the others over the next month or so
