Lang Named USAW/TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week

From USA Wrestling/TheMat.com web page (by Craig Sesker, USA Wrestling):
http://www.themat.com/section.php?section_id=3&page=showarticle&ArticleID=20181

Augsburg's Travis Lang named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2

Travis Lang (Bismarck, N.D./Augsburg College) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

The top-ranked Lang pinned second-ranked Matt Kelly of Wartburg College in the first period to lead NCAA Division III No. 1 Augsburg to a 21-16 win over No. 2 Wartburg on Jan. 30 in Minneapolis. The match drew a crowd of 1,168 fans to Augsburg’s Si Melby Hall.

Lang pinned Kelly in just 1 minute, 43 seconds. Lang edged Kelly 5-4 on Jan. 11 at the National Duals.

Lang, a senior, improved his record to 28-0 this season. It was Lang’s 25th bonus-point victory of the season. Lang has recorded 17 pins, three technical falls, four major decisions and a forfeit this season.

Lang, who started his college career at the University of Minnesota, placed fifth at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships. He was 38-4 as a junior.
