MINNEAPOLIS (1/6/09) -- For the second time this season, Augsburg College men's hockey forward Chris Johnson (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. It's the third time Johnson has been named MIAC Player of the Week in his Auggie career.

Johnson earned All-Tournament Team honors with a five-point (two goals, three assists) weekend for Augsburg at the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego (N.Y.) Hockey Classic over the weekend. In Friday's 6-2 win over Babson (Mass.), Johnson had two goals and two assists, and in Saturday's 5-2 loss to No. 11-ranked Oswego State (N.Y.), Johnson had an assist.

On the season, Johnson leads the Auggies with eight goals and seven assists for 15 points. His point total is sixth-best among MIAC players in overall statistics, and his goal and assist totals are third-best and 13th-best, respectively. An All-MIAC honorable-mention selection the last two seasons, Johnson has 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists) in his 62-game Augsburg career.

This weekend, the Auggies face two non conference opponents in games at the Augsburg Ice Arena, hosting Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday (1/9) at 7 p.m. and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday (1/10) at 7 p.m.
