Disability Awareness Month Information

To help raise awareness during this month, we will be posting brief notes on how we as a community can be supportive of persons with disabilities.

Today's fact...

Typically, individuals with Asperger's Syndrome (AS)have difficulty with social and communication skills, as well as nonverbal communication skills. Many individuals with AS have good cognitive and verbal skills, and typically have normal to superior intelligence.
Some traits that are typical of Asperger's Syndrome, such as attention to detail and focused interests, can increase chances of university and career success. Many people with AS seem to be fascinated with technology, and a common career choice is engineering. However, scientific careers are by no means the only areas where people with AS excel.
Indeed, many respected historical figures have had symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome, some of which include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Thomas Jefferson.
