Green Tip of the Day

"Keep your head out of the refrigerator and the door closed! The refrigerator is the single biggest energy-consuming kitchen appliance, and opening the refrigerator door accounts for between $30 and $60 of a typical family's electricity bill each year. The amount of energy saved in a year by more efficient refrigerator usage could be enough to light every house in the United States for more than four and a half months straight."

Library Budget Contingency Response

We regret to inform you that library funds to purchase DVDs and videos will not be available this summer and fall.

Monies normally dedicated to these purchases are part of the contingency funds necessary to balance the College’s budget. In February, when enrollment and revenue numbers are known and hopefully these budget monies are restored, the library’s intention is to resume ordering DVDs and videos.

In anticipation of February, faculty can continue to send purchase requests to Ron Kurpiers, Collection Development Librarian, who will assign priorities for ordering in the spring.

In the meantime, library staff will be happy to assist faculty in borrowing a DVD or video through interlibrary loan.

Thank you for your cooperation.

General Announcements

Weight Watchers Open House July 22

Join the Augsburg Weight Watchers at Work group for an open house on Tuesday, July 22 from 2:30 - 3 p.m. in Lindell 301. The Weight Watchers group will begin a new 7-week summer "shorts" series on Tuesday, July 29. The series will run through Sept. 16 (no meeting on Sept. 2).

This is a great way to give Weight Watchers a try without committing to an entire 17-week session.

Bring your wallet if you plan to join - the cost of the session is $87, which can be paid by cash, check or credit.

Our group is an amazing collection of men, women, faculty, staff and students, and we'd love for you to join us. Questions? Contact Cherie Christ at 612-330-1476 or christc@augsburg.edu.

If you use Target pharmacy, will you please take the ring off the bottle before recycling it and send it to my campus box - #76? This is an ongoing project and I will be collecting the rings for some time, so keep them coming! Thank you in advance.
