Security Alert: Burglary in Mortenson Hall

A Burglary occurred in Mortenson Hall the evening of Saturday Feb. 9 to the early morning of Feb. 10. A non-student entered a residence hall room and took an expensive electronic device. The incident was reported to Augsburg DPS on Feb. 25. The missing item was located and returned to the owner the next day.

You Can Help Prevent Crime at Augsburg!

- Don’t let others “tailgate” into the residence halls behind you. If you are not comfortable confronting someone yourself, call DPS and describe the person who followed you in.

- Always lock your room whenever you leave, even if you will only be gone briefly. Most home burglaries take only 3 to 5 minutes. Residence Hall burglaries take even less time.

- Keep valuables out of view. If possible, secure them in drawer or cabinet. Better yet, leave unnecessary valuables at home.

- Know who you are letting into your room. Talk to your roommates and agree that strangers will not be left unattended in your room.

- Keep your car keys on your person at all times. This is especially important if you have a remote unlocking device for your car!

- Immediately report suspicious persons or activity to the Minneapolis Police or Augsburg DPS. You can reach Augsburg DPS all day, every day at x1717.

Friday Seminar TODAY

"Images and Experiences of God's Presence Among ELCA Youth"

In what type of God do youth believe? How do they experience this God's presence and activity in their lives? Jeremy Myers (Assistant Professor of Religion - Youth and Family Ministry) has recently finished quantitative and qualitative research into the ways in which youth in the ELCA image and experience God. This research, and its implications for the church, will be discussed at the upcoming Friday Seminar.

Refreshments are served at 3:30 p.m. in Lindell 301. The presentation begins at 4 p.m.

ACTC Women's Studies Conference March 7

Friday, March 7, is the second annual ACTC Women’s Studies Student Conference. Exploring issues such as the real messages in Disney movies, the application of transgender theory to Cymbeline, sexual assault education and policy at Augsburg, African American feminist philosophy, and much more, students will share their research and activism around gender and sexuality.

This free conference runs from 3:30 - 8 p.m., and it is not necessary to register in advance:

Freedom Friday

Counseling & Health Promotion invite you to take a break from your diet (if you are on one) and eat something you don't usually let yourself enjoy. Stop by the "Freedom Friday" table in Christensen Center today between 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for a piece of delicious dark chocolate, sign the "Body Peace Treaty" from Seventeen Magazine, and learn about "Why Diets Don't Work."

Mileage Reimbursement/Rochester Flat Rate Change

This Week's Student TechTip -- AugNet Folders

Do you e-mail files to yourself so that you can work on them at home as well as at school? Save your files in your AugNet folder instead, and avoid the need to search for the right version in your e-mail!

Each Augsburg student has 200MB of file storage space (your "AugNet folder") that can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Lab computers on campus automatically connect to this space when you log in, and a utility called NetStorage lets you get to your files through a web browser from home.

This event will feature a sample MBA class taught by faculty member Marc McIntosh on the “Global Environment for Business.” The sample class will start at 12:15 p.m. and last about 20-30 minutes.
