Security and Facilities Announcements

Permits Required on Monday

Public Safety will resume ticketing for all of the campus lots on Monday, Jan. 14. Valid Augsburg permits are required.

For those of you who purchased only Fall permits at the beginning of the school year, Spring permits are still available for purchase online.

If you have already registered and paid for your Spring permit, please pick it up at the Public Safety dispatch booth at anytime. Please bring a photo ID.

To check your parking account and review your parking history, please log-in to Augnet and choose Parking services. You may then go to your history "H" page to view previous permit purchases, violations, and appeals.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Public Safety at 612-330-1717.

Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus to Speak

20th Annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum
Mar. 7-8, 2008
Speakers announced for the Forum:
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate, and founder of the Grameen Bank established to provide low cost loans to the "poorest of the poor" spearheading the microcredit movement to create economic and social development from below
Greg Mortenson, author of "Three Cups of Tea" and founder of the nonprofit Central Asia Institute and Pennies for Peace.
Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, author of "The End of Poverty," director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, and co-founder/president of Millennium Promise Alliance, dedicated to ending extreme global poverty.

The forum will be hosted by Concordia College (Moorhead) and co-sponsored by Augsburg and the other colleges in the Nobel Peace Prize Forum consortium. Watch for further announcements and registration information.

Self-Defense Seminar

Nina Chenault, Personal Safety Specialist and Augsburg lifetime karate instructor will be offering a self-defense seminar on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Movement Arts Center.

This 2-hour workshop, "Street Smart, Street Safe," will include:
* How to avoid and prevent dangerous situations
* What to do and say to someone who is threatening you
* Learn ways to escape from areas that are potentially dangerous
* Learn what common "everyday objects" you can use to protect yourself
* Practice simple and effective physical resistance moves.
