Student Webmail Update Is on the Way

You talked, and we listened! Many of you contacted the Student Computing Desk about the new version of Webmail. As a result, the IT department will install an update to Webmail this weekend that will address many of your concerns.

Opening messages will be easier - no need to click on “Read Mail” first, just double-click to view the contents of your message. You’ll be able to sort mail into folders by dragging and dropping the messages instead of dealing with check-boxes. There’s more compatibility with messages sent through Moodle. And, a spell check feature will be added when you’re composing messages.

Screenshots and how-to’s will be on the Student Computing Desk web site at http://www.augsburg.edu/stucomp. We also encourage you to contact the Student Computing Desk at 612-330-1400 or stucomp@augsburg.edu if you have questions after the update.

The old version of Webmail will be available until January from a link on the Inside Augsburg page; after that, the new Webmail will be the only version available. We appreciate your feedback about the new Webmail as we continually work to improve your e-mail experience.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Irvine on Teaching the Novel Across the Curriculum

Congratulations to English Professor Colin Irvine on the publication of Teaching the Novel across the Curriculum, a collection of essays he both edited and contributed to. The book is divided into broad sections on general education classes; multiculturalism; literature classes; humanities courses; classes in social, behavioral, and political sciences; and professional studies, such as social work and teacher training. Each section includes chapters written by gifted teachers and provides a wealth of theoretical and practical information. While the book examines major canonical works such as Hard Times, Billy Budd, and Invisible Man, it also looks at graphic novels, science fiction, and popular contemporary works such as Finishing School and Jarhead. Chapters reflect the pedagogical experiences of their authors and cite works for further reading. The collection is published by Greenwood Press.

Classifieds

Chair for Sale

I have an arm chair. It's unbelievably comfortable and soft. I don't know what kind of fabric it's made out of, but it feels really good.
It doesn't recline and it doesn't spin or anything, but it's awesome.
It's a green color, somewhere in between lime green and some other green.

I'm looking to sell it, obviously, because I am moving out of the dorms into a new school and I have no way to transport it.
I'm hoping to sell it for $15 dollars.

If you're interested, let me know.
If you're interested but don't like that price, let me know, and if no one else wants it at $15, I might be able to make a deal with you.

My contact info:
507-271-7568
tuttles@augsburg.edu

Thanks,
