Seminary & Divinity School Fair - Register Now

Hurry! The registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 1 for the Seminary and Divinity School Fair on Nov. 7 at St. Olaf Collage.

Transportation, lunch, break-out groups, and a reception are all free to students who RSVP with Ross Murray at murray@augsburg.edu by the registration deadline.

Representatives and information will be available from all the ELCA seminaries, plus Candler, Duke, Harvard, Princeton, St. John’s, Union, Vanderbilt, and Yale. They will be available to ask questions and talk further about your plans for life post-college.

We will depart Augsburg College at 8 a.m. The day will include chapel, plenary sessions, breakout sessions, lunch and a reception with representatives of the seminaries. We will return to Augsburg at 6 p.m.

The speaker for chapel and the luncheon is the Rev. Kelly Chatman, the campus ministry associate and pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in north Minneapolis. Breakout sessions will address the following questions:
• What are the differences between a seminary and divinity school?
• What’s it like to be a seminary or divinity school student today?
• With college debt, how to I finance my theological education? (very important to consider!!!)
• How does the ELCA candidacy process work?
• What’s happening in youth ministry? (good for YFM majors)
• Should I go to seminary if I have doubts? (good for all of us).

I hope you can join us. E-mail Ross at murray@augsburg.edu for more information or to register.

Community Shares/United Way Giving

The Augsburg community will kick off our giving campaign during Community Time this Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 3:45 p.m. in the East Commons. We will have many opportunities to give during the 2 weeks of the campaign. Watch for food bins – we want to continue to fill the shelves at the Brian Coyle Center. Watch for the big Penny War jars on the Welcome Desk...Students against Faculty against Staff! And, of course, we will do our best to give of our abundance financially. Last year, we gave $22,333 to United Way (up from $7,641 in 2005) and $3,982 to Community Shares (up from $2,420 in 2005). Please let me know if you have any questions! My extension is 1525 or daniels@augsburg.edu
