Subject: Security Alert - Vehicle Stolen from Res. South Lot

Submitter:
John Pack, Director, Public Safety

Message: A vehicle was stolen from the Residence South Parking Lot (the lot between Urness/Mortenson) and the freeway sound wall. This crime occurred sometime between the evening of Sept. 18 and noon on Sept. 19. The vehicle, a silver Chrysler LeBaron, has already been located by the Minneapolis Police and returned to the owner.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Minneapolis Police Department or Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety. You can reach the Department of Public Safety all day, every day, by calling x1717 from an on-campus phone or 612-330-1717 from an off-campus phone.

You can reduce your chances of having your car stolen by doing the following:
- Never leave your car running unattended, even to dash into a business, store, etc.
- Never leave any keys in the car or ignition, inside a locked garage, or in hide-a-key boxes.
- Always roll up your windows and lock the car, even if it is parked in front of your home.
- Never leave valuables in plain view, even if your car is locked.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this or other public safety issues, please feel free to contact John Pack, Director of Public Safety, at 612-330-1644 or by email at pack@augsburg.edu.

Subject: Join the Swim Team
Submitter:
Sarah Bjorklund, Administrative Assistant, Athletics

Message: We are looking for women who are interested in being a part of the Women's Swim Team for the 2007-08 season. We are a relatively new team on campus. As of now, we are small in numbers, but mighty in optimism! If you have any experience in swimming or have a general knowledge of all four strokes, we would love to meet with you!!!

Participating in a college sport has many advantages. It can help teach you effective time management skills, introduces you to life-long friends, promotes health and fitness in your daily life, and looks outstanding on your resume. College athletes are the leaders of a college campus!

Some of you may be thinking, "I haven't swum since Jr. High School!" The great thing about swimming is that it is a lifetime activity. It is like riding a bike. You never forget, but can always improve! Here at Augsburg, we are focusing on team-building, stroke conditioning, accomplishing goals, and having fun! There are many other reasons to join our team - training trips, team functions, personal growth, etc. If you have any interest or desire to be part of this team, please e-mail Tricia Wallace, the head coach, at: wallace@augsburg.edu.

The first step starts with you. We would love to hear from you! Our season starts Oct. 1, 2007. Come join the fun!!!
