Subject: Update on lightning damage to campus phone system
Submitter:
Leif B Anderson, Chief Information Officer, Information Technology

Message: **Voicemail system remains down; 200 campus phones out of service**

Approximately 20 separate components of Augsburg's telecommunications system were damaged by Friday night's lightning storm, interrupting campus telephone service for much of the weekend. Incoming and outgoing service was restored to 1500 of our 1700 campus phones by noon on Sunday, including the most critical systems: Augsburg's central switchboard (x1000) and the Department of Public Safety dispatch (x1717).

The remaining 200 phones, as well as the entire campus voicemail system will be out of service this morning (Monday) as we wait for delivery of additional replacement parts. Until these repairs are completed, callers will not be able to leave voice messages for any campus extension, and any existing voicemail messages will not be accessible.

We will provide an update on repairs at noon today. In the meantime, I welcome your questions or concerns to andersol@augsburg.edu
