Message: The Committee for the Selection of Nominees for Dean of the College wishes to thank the more than 80 faculty colleagues who answered our call for comments on the process for selecting the nominee(s) for Dean. We are impressed both by the magnitude of the response and the concern and thought that went into them. Subject: Wednesday Gathering Invitation

Message: The Wednesday Gatherings for faculty and staff will continue during the summer. The summer dates are: June 6, July 11, and August 8. Lunch will be available between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm in the East Commons of Christensen Center on June 6, and Mpls Room on July 11 and August 8.

Security and custodial night shift employees are also invited to the Wednesday Evening Gatherings, on the same dates, at 8:00 p.m. in the Riverside Room.

Wednesday Gatherings are intended to support our commitment to building community and practicing common work. This is an opportunity to get to know one another better, exchange ideas, and collaborate in new ways. We hope you will invite your colleagues and plan to join us!


Subject: YOU'RE INVITED: Meet the CLASS Director Candidates

Message: As you may be aware, a search process has been underway to hire a Director for the CLASS program at Augsburg. The search has been narrowed to two candidates. The campus community is invited to attend a "Meet the Candidate" open forum on Thursday, June 7th for each candidate.

The first candidate’s open forum is scheduled from 12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Minneapolis Room and the second candidate’s open forum is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. in the Century Room. A copy of the candidate’s resume will be available at the open forum session.

This is an excellent time to hear from the candidates, ask them questions and provide feedback to the search committee.

Message: Alice Kloker, Program Director, CGE International Travel Seminars; and Shamani-Jeffrey Shikwambi, Program Coordinator, CGE International Travel Seminars, co-presented with other colleagues in a session entitled: “Who is Serving Whom? Ethical Dilemmas in International Service Learning.”

Amy Greeley, Program Director, Augsburg Abroad, co-presented with colleagues from three other universities on the topic: “A Disconnect Between International Business and Study Abroad.”

Margaret Anderson, Program Coordinator, CGE Semester Programs Abroad; and Orv Gingerich, Associate Dean, International Programs, gave a poster presentation on the Center for Global Education pedagogy in a joint poster presentation entitled: “Fostering Peace Through International Education on Campus and Abroad.”

Orv Gingerich, Associate Dean, International Programs, with two Augsburg alums, Eric Iverson and Lisa Luinenburg, participated in a panel discussion focused on the topic: “Hearing from Students: “How ‘Transformative’ Education Really Changes Lives.”
