Subject: General education skills consultations spring 2007
Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message: If you are teaching a class that contains a graduation skill component (speaking, writing, critical thinking, or quantitative reasoning) you are required to attend a “consultation” on the particular skill. Please contact Terry Martin, x1229 or martin@augsburg and training will be arranged for you.

Subject: Nobel Peace Prize Forum registration now online
Submitter:
Orval Gingerich, Associate Dean for International Programs, International Programs

Message: Schedule and registration for the 19th Annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum at Augustana College, March 9 and 10, is now available on line at www.augie.edu/peaceprizeforum/

Augsburg College is a co-sponsor of the Forum. A bus will provide transportation to and from the forum for all registrants from Augsburg College. The Forum honors the work of Mohamed ElBaradei and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), recipients of the 2005 Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize. “Imagine what would happen if the nations of the world spent as much on development as on building the machines of war. Imagine a world where every human being would live in freedom and dignity. Imagine a world in which we would shed the same tears when a child dies in Darfur or Vancouver. Imagine a world where we would settle our differences through diplomacy and dialogue and not through bombs or bullets. Imagine the legacy we could leave to our children...
... Imagine that such a world is within our grasp.”

Subject: CTL professional travel funds: Important Notice
Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message: The Center for Teaching and Learning has committed the yearly amount of regular professional travel funds for conferences and is no longer accepting applications. The good news is we have supported many faculty this past summer and fall and have approved proposals already submitted for upcoming conferences this spring. In fact, we were able to award more than our budget line for faculty conferences. There are still
summer research, international travel and some Bush Funds available. Please also note that Dean Farley and the Committee are working on a plan to co-ordinate Dean's office and CTL travel funds into one easier to access location beginning next academic year. Please watch for notification of changes later this spring.

The Committee on Faculty Development

Subject: 2007-2008 classroom preferences form
Submitter:
Marie J Odenbrett, Scheduling Coordinator, Event and Classroom Services

Message: Classroom scheduling for the 07-08 school year is right around the corner, and this year we will be implementing the automated scheduling features in our scheduling program Ad Astra. To make sure that the program works efficiently we need to collect updated classroom preferences from all departments for courses that have specific needs such as data projectors or computers for students. There are also some classes that need to meet in specific rooms because it is the only room on campus that has the equipment that a course might need. Please return the complete Classroom Preference Form to Events Services CB #64.

A pdf version of the "Classroom Preferences Form" can now be accessed from the lower right corner of the Registrar's webpage under Faculty Information. www.augsburg.edu/enroll/registrar/index.html

All other classroom change request should now be sent to roomrequest@augsburg.edu.
