Subject: Thank you notes for donors

Submitter:
Carly Eichhorst, Financial Aid Counselor, Enrollment Center

Message: We all know money does not grow on trees but we do know that it does grow out of the goodness of a person’s heart. We also know that the only thing that makes it grow is personally expressed appreciation.

We need you to “water” the good will and intentions of our scholarship donors by saying thank you in a personal way.

Stop by the tables in Christensen Center Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch and and write a thank you note.

It's the right thing to do!

Subject: Faculty Advising

Submitter:
Sheila Anderson, Associate Director of Academic Advising, Academic Advising

Message: SPRING Day & WINTER WEC ADVISING AND REGISTRATION
The term is well underway, and it’s time to think about registration for the upcoming term. You’re probably wondering whom you should see for advising. All registered students have at least 1 faculty adviser. Students with more than 1 major should have a faculty adviser from each area of study. Please schedule an advising appointment with your faculty adviser.

Check AugNet Records and Registration for the name of your faculty adviser(s). Students who wish to change or add faculty advisers can do so by submitting the completed declaration form. The declaration form can also be used to change or add majors and minors.

Students are encouraged to discuss academic and career plans with their faculty adviser(s) on a regular basis. Part of your discussion will undoubtedly focus on course selection, but we hope your relationship will be much more than that. We hope this will be an opportunity to build a faculty-student mentoring relationship that will greatly enhance your academic and career focus while assisting you in course selection.

To get the most out of your advising session, we encourage you to do the following:
1) Schedule an appointment with your faculty adviser now. Schedule it early so you’ll have the best selection of meeting times.
2) Review the College Catalog for major requirements, course descriptions, and graduation requirements. Be well informed as you plan your degree.
3) Review the schedule for the next term to see what’s available. See the class schedule in AugNet Records and Registration.
4) Prepare a tentative schedule of courses including some backup options.
5) Put some thought into your career plans and vocation and how this degree path will help you reach your goals.

The name of your primary faculty adviser is listed in Records and Registration – Transcript portion of AugNet. Each student in the Day program must meet with his/her faculty adviser prior to scheduling classes to gain access to web registration. Although the adviser meeting is optional for students in the Weekend program, it is HIGHLY recommended. If the adviser listed is not in your major area of study or if you are seeing a faculty adviser other than the person listed on AugNet, you must change your faculty adviser. Note, if you have 2 majors or a major and licensure, you will have 2 faculty advisers. Either adviser can release your registration hold. Stop by the Enrollment Center for more information about your second adviser.

To access the name of your primary faculty adviser:
1) Access AugNet at augnet.augsburg.edu
2) Login into AugNet by entering your user ID and password.
3) Click on Records and Registration
4) Click on Transcript. Your faculty adviser’s name is listed in the top part of the transcript page.

To access faculty adviser contact information (office location, phone number, e-mail address):
1) Access AugNet at augnet.augsburg.edu
2) Login into AugNet by entering your user ID and password.
3) Click on Directory Search
4) Enter your faculty adviser’s name and click “Go”.

To change your faculty adviser:
1) Pick up the major/minor/adviser Declaration Form at the Enrollment Center, 1st floor Sverdrup Hall or print a copy from the Augsburg Academic Advising homepage (www.augsburg.edu/advising & click on Declaring a Major).
2) Complete the form with new faculty adviser. Your new faculty adviser must sign this form.
3) Return the completed form to the Enrollment Center for processing.

Message: Are you looking for an opportunity to celebrate with colleagues, friends, or family as we enter the holiday season? Why not start a little bit early by joining us on Saturday, Nov. 11 for a Dave and Buster's Pre-Grand Opening VIP Party to benefit the Emergency Foodshelf Network?

Newly located in Maple Grove, Dave and Buster's is like a Chucky Cheese for adults: tasty food and beverages, tournament pool and shuffleboard, and assorted other games of skill.

The Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN) is Minnesota's free food bank and has been the most integral supporter of the Campus Kitchen at Augsburg College (CKAC) since CKAC began here in 2003. This is a great way to have phenomenal fun while supporting and thanking a key partner in our fight against hunger in the Twin Cities and beyond.

Please join us! For just $25, you'll be treated to scrumptious hors d'oeurves, an OPEN bar, and a $10 credit towards playing all the games in Dave and Buster's Million Dollar Midway. Every single cent of this money will go to EFN! Talk about a win-win!

Guests must be 21 or over, and cocktail or business attire is required. To reserve your spot, please visit www.emergencyfoodshelf.org and click on the Dave and Buster's party icon.

Organize your departments! Collect your colleagues. Finesse your friends and force your family. Bring the whole Augsburg community! Saturday, Nov. 11, let your hair down and party for a cause!

Please contact Tim Dougherty at doughert@augsburg.edu, x1208, with questions. See you in November!
