Subject: Art exhibition openings this Thursday night, 7/13!

Message: Meet and greet two local artists, Randy Walker and Mary Reid Kelley, this Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at their opening receptions.

"By a Thread," recent sculpture by Randy Walker, is featured in the Gage Family Art Gallery in Lindell Library and "Paper Union," mixed media work by Mary Reid Kelley, is highlighted in the Christensen Center Art Gallery.

The exhibitions will be on view until Friday, September 8.

Subject: Looking for Research Volunteers

Message: Research title: The Psychological Impact of War on Children
Eligibility: Adults of any age who were exposed to war during childhood.

The goal of this research is to examine the psychological impact of war on children. Research volunteers will be asked to do an interview about their childhood experience of war. As an incentive volunteers will receive a cash payment of $25. As an indirect benefit to participation, volunteers will be contributing to increase the existing knowledge of the long-term psychological impact of war on children.

Interviews start approximately June 26 and will be completed by mid-July. Please contact Ana as soon as possible since the number of volunteers needed is limited.

Message: Sports Information Director Don Stoner was part of a presentation at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Workshop in Nashville, Tenn., July 2-5. Stoner was involved in a presentation: "Job Interview Do's and Don'ts", which utilized people acting in improv style in roles of SIDs in various stages of their careers interviewing for a job.

The presentation was intended to show younger SIDs what to do and not to do in the interview and resume process. Stoner took part in the presentation along with moderators Eric McDowell of Union (N.Y.) and Patricia Pierce (Vanderbilt Opportunity Development Center), and fellow "actors" Leigh Matejkovic of Neumann (Pa.) and Oliver Pierce of Gonzaga (Wash.).
