Subject: Parking Lots H and I Closing

Submitter:
Krista Young, Communications and Parking Manager, Public Safety

Message: Construction is set to begin for the Gateway building very soon! To prepare for construction, we will be permanently closing parking lots H (the main faculty/staff lot) and I (the small visitor lot near Lindell) on Friday, July 7th.

Please have your vehicle removed from lots H and I by 6 a.m. on July 7th. Any vehicle left in lots H or I at that time will be subject to towing at the owner's expense.

After July 7th, faculty/staff parking will be available in parking lots D, G, J, and L. If you would like an escort from your vehicle to any location on campus, please call Public Safety Dispatch at 612-330-1717. We are staffed 24/7 to assist you.

If you have any questions regarding the lots closing, please contact David Draus at 612-330-1033.

Message: Wednesday was an amazing day for me. So many of you all came out or sent greetings to help me celebrate retirement from Augsburg College. The outpouring of good wishes, affection, heartfelt expressions and affirmation was truly overwhelming. I am so grateful for each one of you with whom I have had the privilege of working. It truly has been "quite a ride", made all the more pleasant because of each of you wonderful colleagues and friends.

A special thanks to Kathryn Croyle, Brenda Hemmingsen, Sally Daniels, Heidi Breen, and Joe Herbst who planned the event, and to the speakers; Meghan Flores, Lois Larson, Brenda Hemmingsen, Rick Thoni, Bao Thao, Tracy Elftmann, Vivian Jenkins Nelsen, Bonnie Wallace. Words are not adequate to tell you how deeply you have affected me.

Although it is not easy to leave great colleagues who have become friends as well, I am looking forward to retirement. Your many good wishes make the transition a little more tolerable. I will always have Augsburg College and each of you in my heart and strongly in my memory.

As we Norwegians say "Magne Tausen Tak!!!"

Message: On Tues. & Thurs. July 11, 13, 18, & 20 from 1 - 4 p.m. the Cedar-Riverside/Augsburg College Pottery Cooperative will be in full swing with students from the Trinity Lutheran Congregation CREATION summer arts program.

All are invited to come participate/interact with the making of a bas relief ceramic mural sponsored by a Forecast Public Arts grant and Augsburg College. Bring small solid iconic objects that have special meaning as to who you are and the values that are important to you. A mold will be taken of your iconic objects in order to transfer into clay forms. Objects should not be bigger than your open hand in order to minimize cracking and exploding in the kiln. As far as objects go, anything goes... from a bust of Elvis to Einstein, from Madonna to "THE" Madonna, from Mao to Mickey... you get the idea.

The mural will be a conglomeration of cross cultural, religious, contemporary icons juxtaposed to form a mandala like design which speaks about the synergy of all things.

Eligibility: Adults of any age who were exposed to war during childhood.

The goal of this research is to examine the psychological impact of war on children. Research volunteers will be asked to do an interview about their childhood experience of war. As an incentive volunteers will receive a cash payment of $25. As an indirect benefit to participation, volunteers will be contributing to increase the existing knowledge of the long-term psychological impact of war on children.

If you're interested in participating in this study please contact Ana Chilingarishvili at chilinga@augsburg.edu or by phone: 612-501-4498.
