Subject: NEW COPIERS ON CAMPUS

Submitter:
Matthew D Rumpza, Manager Central Support Services, Central Support Services

Message: If you haven't received a new copier in your department yet, you will in the next couple of days. We have renewed our lease with Imaging Path (our copier vendor) and will be switching out the current fleet of copiers with new ones. These copiers are essentially the same but have a newer looking screen. For the first couple of weeks there will be no codes installed on the copiers. You can still make copies but you will not need to input your departmental code. I will be coming around to each copier in the next couple of weeks to install the same codes that are on the current machines. If you see representatives from Imaging Path changing out the copiers, they are approved to do so from the college. If you have any questions, you can give me a call at X1290.

Subject: The Sallie Mae Unmet Need Scholarship

Submitter:
Meghan R Flores, Associate Director of Financial Aid, Enrollment Center

Message: May 31 is the deadline to apply for The Sallie Mae Fund's Unmet Need Scholarships for the 2006-2007 academic year. Please encourage your students to apply online at www.salliemaefund.org before time runs out.

The Sallie Mae Fund's Unmet Need Scholarship Program provides a last-dollar resource for families with a combined income of less than $30,000. The program is intended to supplement financial aid packages that fall more than $1,000 short of students financial needs, but is not designed as a substitute for aid provided by their institutions.

The program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are accepted or enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions. Students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible to apply. Recipients are selected based on financial need-a total of $1 million in scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $3,800.

For more details on The Sallie Mae Funds scholarship programs, please visit www.salliemaefund.org.

Subject: Farewell Celebration -- Join us!

Submitter:
Kathryn Croyle, Administrative Assistant to the VP, Institutional Advancement

Message: Contributed by Tracy Elftmann

With sadness and joy (sadness because we hate to see them go; joy because the reason they're leaving is we're nearing our $55 million campaign goal) we will say good-bye to some terrific members of our Development team. Part time gift officers Phil Quanbeck Sr., George Sverdrup, and Ron Main; and Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Stephanie Stuart, are leaving our employ at the end of this month. They have been great additions to our fundraising efforts and will, I'm sure, continue to be strong Augsburg ambassadors. Please join us in celebrating their good works on Thursday, May 25, in the Marshall Room from 9 - 10 a.m.

Subject: Ann Klamer departs Augsburg
Submitter:
Ann L Garvey, Dean of Students, Academic and Student Affairs

Message: Ann Klamer, Residence Life, will be leaving her position at Augsburg on May 31. She's off to truck-driving school on June 1.

She didn't want a good-bye party - but please drop her a card or email and wish her well.

Subject: Bell, Bergeson to compete at track nationals

Message: Augsburg's Tonnisha Bell and Angela Bergeson qualify for NCAA Division III outdoor track and field national championships
http://www.augsburg.edu/athletics/sportsnews/052306track.html

MINNEAPOLIS (5/23/06) -- Augsburg College's Tonnisha Bell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Angela Bergeson (Sr., Red Wing, Minn.) have qualified for the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field national championships, to be held this Thursday through Saturday (5/25-27) at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.

For the third year in a row, Bell has qualified for nationals in both sprint events, the women's 100- and 200-meter dashes. She has qualified for nationals in the 200 each of her four seasons. Bell, a three-time All-American, has qualified for every indoor and outdoor NCAA championship meet -- eight -- in her Auggie career. She has the third-fastest time nationally in the 100 (11.95 seconds) and the 11th-fastest time nationally in the 200 (24.82 seconds).

Bergeson has qualified for her second NCAA championship competition, after earning indoor All-American honors as a member of Augsburg's distance-medley relay that finished seventh nationally in 2004. Her qualifying time of 2:12.76 in the women's 800-meter run is the 13th-fastest among the 19 entrants in the competition.

Bell will begin her competition on Thursday (5/25), with her heat race in the 200 at 6:10 p.m. Her heat race in the 100 will be on Friday (5/26) at 4:50 p.m. Bergeson's heat race in the 800 will be on Friday at 5:20 p.m. Finals in all three events will be on Saturday (5/27), with the 100 at 2:30 p.m., the 800 at 2:50 p.m., and the 200 at 3:35 p.m.

Augsburg has now qualified individuals in 56 different women's track and field events to national meets in school history (51 NCAA, five NAIA). Augsburg women's athletes have earned 28 All-American honors and eight individual national championships in track and field in school history.
