Scott D McLennan, Student

Message: In response to the message of this year's Peace Prize Forum, in response to the unaddressed environmental crises facing the world, and in response to our NEED for a sustainable society, you are invited to join Augsburg's Sustainable Life Project.

Right now our society works for short term gain, at the expense of the future. The Sustainable Life Project will work to build a vision of a society that can survive and thrive in the long run. There is certainly enough creativity in the Augsburg community to imagine a sustainble society that we want to live in -- so lets make that image, and share it with the world.

The work begins with a BRAINSTORMING SESSION:
6 p.m., Friday, March 31st
City of Augsburg Room, Christensen Center

Take an hour to help build the future.

Submitter:
Herald A Johnson, Director of Advancement Programs, Institutional Advancement

Message: WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! NOW!!!!!

Thursday, March 30, 2006 - 10 am to 2 p.m.

The Day at the Capitol is an important annual event for students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff of the College to meet with their legislators (representatives and senators) about student issues, primarily Minnesota student financial aid programs. The purpose is to encourage the support of legislators to sustain a broad range of financial aid programs for Minnesota students, especially the Minnesota State Grant Program (MSGP). Over 660 Augsburg students receive about $2,000,000 per year from the State Grant Program alone.

In addition, we will learn and participate in the legislative process in a very practical way.

We will be given ătalking pointsä to use in our meetings and advice on how to manage our time with the legislator.

SIGN UP NOW at http://www.mnprivatecolleges.org/capitol.
The names and contact info of those who sign up will go to the MPCC, who will then set up appointments with lawmakers.

Subject: Tickets Now On Sale for "Metamorphoses"

Submitter:
Sarah E Teich, Student

Message: Tickets are now on sale for the Augsburg College Theatre Department's mainstage production of "Metamorphoses," written by Mary Zimmerman and directed by Darcey Engen.

The play "Metamorphoses" is based on Ovid's ancient myths and uses contemporary language and imagery to reveal the joys and sorrows of humankind. Staged around a pool of water and on aerial fabrics, the play engages the human need for imagination and theatre. The visceral use of the theatrical staging, modern narrative, and ancient legend ignites deep reflection on the past while speaking to audiences today.

Performances: April 7, 8, 20, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m.
April 9 and 23 at 2 p.m.

Tickets: $2 Augsburg College Students; $8 ACTC faculty, staff, and students; $10 general public.

Subject: The Signature Project -- an ACTC training event

Submitter:
Cynthia J Greenwood, Associate Director, Human Resources

Message: The ACTC Human Resources Committee is sponsoring a program titled The Signature Project. The program is scheduled at Macalester College in the John B. Davis Lecture Hall in the Campus Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

The Signature Project is a stunning, one-of-a-kind experience. Irish-born artist Patrick Dunning magically combines technology with music, visual art, and story-telling to create an event that is funny, inspiring, and downright amazing.

The springboard for the presentation is a cosmic landscape Dunning originally painted as a 3' x 5' mural in 1992. The art work is now being re-painted with individual signatures of over one million people color-coded to re-create the original on a huge scale÷when complete, The Signature Project will fill a space larger than a basketball court.

Dunning has presented throughout the U.S. at venues ranging from rural school auditoriums to major urban theatres and convention centers. He has been the featured speaker at diversity celebrations, wellness seminars, and motivational meetings for Fortune 500 companies. The Signature Project is a perfect community-building event that will be remembered forever.

More information about the Signature Project can be found at www.signatureproject.com.

A map of the Macalester campus is available at this site: http://www.macalester.edu/about/mapbynumber.html

If you are interested in attending, please call Human Resources at x1058 or email Saykham Panemalaythong in HR at panemala@augsburg.edu.
