Subject: New Parking Lot "L" open 11-17-05

Submitter:
Krista Young, Communications and Parking Manager, Public Safety

Message: The new parking lot in the SE corner of campus at the intersection of 25th Ave. S. and Butler Pl. will be open and available for use at 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 17th. Smaller aspects of the project (such as signs and lights) will still be under construction and will be finished as soon as possible.

The new lot is called "Lot L." Right now, any vehicle with a Fac/Staff, WEC/Grad, or Commuter permit may park in the lot. The lot will be posted with more detailed parking information once its signs are finished. For questions, please contact Krista Young at x1711 or John Pack at x1644.

Subject: Instructions for On-Line Student Feedback

Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message: Instructions for On-Line Student Feedback on Courses Augsburg College Fall 2005

Information Required for Faculty:

Beginning Friday November 18, 2005 students in each of your courses will receive an email asking them to complete the on-line course form approved by the faculty in October 2005. There will be no formal Provost's office paper evaluation this year. You do not need to do anything to be a part of this project÷ all courses are included automatically (with a few exceptions.) These instructions are very important with respect to obtaining information that is helpful to faculty and the College.

The e-mails asking students to participate are sent directly to each student registered for your courses. There is one survey per course. A student can log on any time during the 3 week window (ending Friday December 9) and complete the survey. A student can save his or her progress if interrupted, but once the student submits the survey for a course it is final.

Students will receive up to 2 additional reminders during the 3 week window if they have not filled out the survey.

Surveys are confidential; no summary results go to faculty or administration until after grades are submitted in January.

What faculty should do:

1. Please tell students that they will receive an email that says "Augsburg College Course Evaluation" in subject line. They should not delete it; it is legitimate.

2. Please encourage students to complete the surveys as a contribution to our effectiveness at Augsburg. Your willingness to see this information as helpful goes a long way in student motivation. Any concerns about the current College policy should not be directed to students. Ethically, such concerns should be addressed to this committee and other formal groups.

3. The College policy is that participation is voluntary by students, but strongly encouraged. Students have an opportunity to take it on their own time and in private, so it would not be appropriate to bring a class to a lab and have them complete the form together.

Reminders:
- Faculty will not see individual students' results; responses are confidential unless a student chooses to disclose his or her identity in the open ended comments.
- Once the 3 week window is closed, students cannot fill out the survey.
- This survey is only one tool for understanding. Please use other forms, handouts or discussions for collecting specific information (what about the texts? Labs? etc.) in your classes as needed. A single end of the term form only does some things and not others. CTL is happy to help.
- The customized section of the Augsburg Form will be available in spring term.
- You will receive your results in mid January after grades are in÷they will go directly to you, your chair and the Provost in a timely way.

If you have questions, please contact Diane Pike x 1228 pike@augsburg.edu or Scott Krajewski x 1471. krajews@augsburg.edu. We will do everything we can to help. Please keep in mind that this is the first time we are doing the entire community so your patience and help in making this work is important.
Thank you!

The forum will be from 12:30-2 p.m. at Central, located at 3rd Ave and 12th St, next to the Minneapolis Convention Center, and from 3:30 - 5 p.m. at Prince of Peace, 13901 Fairview Drive, Burnsville. She also will share information about other prophetic artists, such as Picasso, Goya and Ben Shahn and will explore how our creativity can be used to both deal with the tragedy of war and injustice as well as point towards creative solutions to these social problems.

MEMORANDUM

TO: Members of the Augsburg College Community

FROM: H. Theodore Grindal, Chair, Presidential Search Committee

SUBJECT: Search Update

I am writing to provide another update on the search for the next president of Augsburg College. The search committee met most recently on Monday, November 14, and selected seven candidates who are being invited to participate in confidential preliminary interviews with the search committee early next month. These candidates were selected on the basis of reference calls made by the committee, and were chosen from a larger number of individuals whose background and experience seemed especially consistent with the presidential qualities and qualifications established for the search. On completion of preliminary interviews, the committee will select candidates who will be invited to participate in more extensive on-campus interviews with a broad range of Augsburg's constituents early next semester. You will all be encouraged to participate in this final phase of the interview process.

The committee is very pleased with the quality of the semi-finalist candidates. If you have any questions, please direct them to me (htgrindal@locklaw.com), or Dr. Thomas Courtice, our consultant (phone: 614-405-9209; e-mail: tom.courtice@academic-search.org).

Thank you again for your interest and support.

--are admired by their peers and pets;

Please join the Augsburg community for a brilliant performance, consisting of four vignettes produced by the first-year honors students! They will be delving into issues such as sex, death, and the meaning of life. Each vignette offers a unique and at times, humorous, glimpse into the human predicament as seen through the eyes of C.S. Admission is free and seating is on a first-come basis. Performances take place in the Film Studio Theater in Foss.

Two men. One chance encounter. "The Zoo Story" is the biting tale of a park bench and the animals that will do anything to make it their own. Through sharp dialogue and savage characters, Edward Albee illuminates the feeling of alienation that connects us all.
