Faculty Panel on Scholarship and Teaching

All are welcome to attend this Friday's faculty panel sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Are teaching and scholarship two distinct activities for faculty? Or can they be mutually sustaining endeavors? How do faculty manage these responsibilities at Augsburg? If you are thinking about these questions, our panel of CTL scholarship grant recipients, may be able to shed some light. Three faculty from a diverse scholarly background including religion, theatre, and creative writing will share their approach to integrating scholarship and teaching at Augsburg. The goal of this panel is to share stories and create a community of scholars who are interested in creating ways to combine their scholarship and teaching.

This is a brown bag event - you are invited to bring your lunch and eat while you hear stories from your colleagues. The panel will include Stephan Clark (English), Beliza Torres Narvaez (Theater), and Lori B. Hale (Religion).

2016 Queer Up the Polls

TODAY accompany friends and colleagues to the polls at 4:30 p.m. in OGC 100. Queer Pride Alliance will offer a quick refresher session on how the voting process and voter registration will work and from there attend the Christensen Center polling station together.

This event is perfect for first time voters and those concerned with how marginalized people are often kept out of the political process. The event will ensure everyone can engage in the political process without fear of intimidation because of their appearance, lack of knowledge about the process, or anxiety surrounding candidates, accessible voting locations, and more. No need to be a QPA member to attend - just LGBTQIA or an ally!

If you registered to vote with your Augsburg dorm address as your home address or live in Augsburg's district, this event is for you! If not, you may still tag along to support - it will be more than welcome.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Jay Moad Performing "Outside Paducah"

MFA graduate Jay Moad (2016) will be performing "Outside Paducah" over Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 10-13, at Gremlin Theater. More info:

Award-winning writer and performer (and 20 year Veteran himself) J.A. Moad II delivers three powerful and fascinating stories from three different generational perspectives about the challenges, joy, love and heartbreak surrounding our Veterans and those most important to them once they return home.

This trio of personal narratives captures the toll of war not only on those who've experienced conflict, but on their families and communities as well. Set in small towns situated at the conflux of Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri, Outside Paducah invites audiences to bear witness to the struggles of Veterans as they assimilate back into society; each unique and unflinching story serving to help bridge the military-civilian divide. Don't miss this one-weekend-only special engagement.
