Teaching Online with Articulate Storyline - Feb. 17

Next Wednesday, Ben Stottrup (Physics) and Annika Moe (U of M, Biology) will demonstrate the e-learning platform Articulate Storyline. Come and join in the discussion on how to build flexible and durable flipped classroom materials and see how it has been implemented into two general education science courses.

Teaching and Learning Award Nominations Due Feb. 22

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Center for Teaching and Learning invite your nominations for the 2016 awards for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Learning.

Augsburg annually recognizes individuals or groups that have made exemplary contributions to creating an engaging academic learning environment through awards for teaching, scholarship, or service.

Students, staff, and faculty are invited to nominate full-time faculty or staff who have been employed at the college for at least three years.

CTL Grant Applications Due Monday

Faculty, apply online now for three grants from the Center for Teaching and Learning.

The Scholarship Grant supports the scholarly endeavors of full-time faculty. Grants will likely be in the form of two course reassignments, two $4,000 grants, and up to four $2,000 grants.

The Provost's Internationalization Travel Grant awards two travel grants of up to $2,500 to faculty interested in pursuing teaching, research, curriculum development/integration, or other scholarly collaboration with an Augsburg international program or international partner institution.

The Integrated Course Design Grant provides an opportunity for faculty to spend a significant amount of time on course design. The stipend amount is $2,000.

Practice Your Spanish TODAY

Mesa de Conversación

Join us to practice Spanish in a relaxed and fun setting! Formally the Spanish Conversation Group, Mesa de Conversación meets on Thursdays from 11:30-1:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Christensen Center in the Riverside Room. Our relaxed and friendly gatherings are a place where you can meet new people, practice your Spanish & learn about culture. All levels are welcome! Come for 10 minutes or for the whole session, whatever works for you. Feel free to bring your lunch. Questions? Library Reference Services

Due to a staffing shortage, the Lindell Library reference desk will not be staffed on Thursday evenings until further notice. Librarians are available for reference services, one-on-one research consultations, and library instruction sessions during daytime business hours Monday through Saturday. Evening sessions are available by appointment only. Students wishing to schedule a research consultation and faculty needing to schedule a library instruction session for their class may do so by contacting the reference desk at refdesk@augsburg.edu.

Don't Leave Your Co-workers Out In The Cold

Nominations for the 2016 Augsburg Outstanding Staff Awards are now being accepted through February 12.

The Outstanding Staff Award is intended to recognize exceptional Augsburg staff members who exemplify the mission statement of the College through their actions. Recipients of this award consistently go above and beyond the call of duty by providing exceptional service to others and/or making innovative and outstanding contributions to enhance the objectives of their department or the Augsburg community. There are six awards given out each year.

All Augsburg faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to nominate staff members. More information about the award and process are online at the nomination form link below.

TerraCycle

The Environmental Student Leaders Action Network has introduced Terracycle bins to the Urness bathrooms. The bins will collect Personal care products such as: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, Shower products, deodorant, etc. The floor that collects the most wins a PIZZA PARTY! The competition ends on March 10! There is another Terracycle bin for community use in Christensen.
