MPLS Declares Snow Emergency

Minneapolis declared a Snow Emergency. Please visit the website for details. As a reminder, most of the streets in and around the college are city streets and will fall under the Snow Emergency regulations. The city will ticket and tow vehicles that are not in compliance with the regulations. http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/

This is the only time you will receive a notice from Augsburg regarding a Minneapolis Snow Emergency. If you park on the city streets, it is your responsibility to sign up for Snow Emergency Alerts through Minneapolis.

Augsburg Facilities Management will do its best to plow around your vehicle if you have an Augsburg permit and are parked in an Augsburg parking lot.

If your vehicle becomes "plowed in", shovels are available for check out at the Public Safety desk with a Photo ID. Shovels are limited so please return promptly if you check one out.

Those without an Augsburg permit may purchase a $5 per day temporary permit online through Parking Services. The temporary permit is valid in Lot L.

For questions about city street parking, please contact Minneapolis 311 (612-673-3000)

Middleton Gift to CSBR Honored in Acad. Advising

Deidre (Durand) Middleton Office of Academic Advising Dedicated in Memory of Beloved Campus Advisor

Deidre Middleton '88, a beloved academic advisor, worked with students at Augsburg College from 1988 until her retirement in 2001. On October 30, 2013, The Deidre (Durand) Middleton Office of Academic Advising was dedicated in her memory. She died the previous year after a long illness.

Her husband of 52 years, Bruce Middleton, and her mother-in-law, Edith Middleton, together gave Augsburg College $100,000 for the Center for Science, Business, and Religion and chose to honor Deidre by naming the Office of Academic Advising in her memory. Bruce said, "It seemed appropriate to name that particular space, given Deidre's 14 years of service in advising students."

This I Believe - December

The Christensen Center for Vocation (CCV) invites you to take a look at the December reflection for "This I Believe," a new regular feature for conversation on campus:

"Believing in God and in One's Self" by Melissa Hensley, http://www.augsburg.edu/ccv/december/

"This I Believe" highlights a reflection by a member of the Augsburg community on what it means to believe or doubt or not believe. We hope people see Augsburg as a place where questions of faith are part of the public square.

Enjoy!

Conversation: Academic Progress Reports, Alerts

This fall we launched new software programs to get faculty feedback on student progress, specifically students in danger of not passing/falling below a 2.0. The Midterm Progress Report (MPR) was a survey format - which was new. We also had the "ad hoc" alert, similar to what we had before.

The purpose of this conversation is to quickly review what we did, discuss our plans for spring semester, and get feedback and input from faculty.
Tues., Dec. 10, 3-4 p.m. Marshall room.
