Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Facilities Work Order Request

The facilities online work order system should be used for all work order requests, except emergencies. Emergencies include fire, water flooding, sparking, electrical outages, a hazardous situation on campus (icy steps, etc.). Call DPS at x1717 (612-330-1717) for these emergencies. For ALL OTHER requests, please use the online system. These may include a light bulb out in the ceiling of your office, a broken sign on campus, spill on your carpet, broken window blind, etc. Report things in your work area, and anything you see while you are out and about on campus. We can all help keep the campus looking its best by reporting things we see.

-Go to Inside Augsburg
-Log in
-Click Administrative Tasks
-Click Facilities Request
-Click Submit a Request
-Select which campus, Minneapolis or Rochester
-Select the building
-Select the repair center: Custodial is anything related to cleaning or restroom supplies. Facilities is anything related to fixing buildings, building systems, or grounds.
-Area: Many areas on campus have rooms labeled with room numbers; use these to locate the repair center, if at all possible. Otherwise, select the area by the description.
-Request: please be as specific as you can. Your request may be one that can be handled by a facilities technician that works in the evening or is available when you are not, so be specific enough that your request can be completed without your in-person description.

You request will be reviewed by a facilities employee and assigned to a technician. Our goal is to complete your request within five work days. There are a few situations that may cause us to miss this goal: ordering parts, a higher than normal number of emergencies, etc. Contact me if you are having trouble with the online system. Thanks for your cooperation.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Alum from 1967 Makes $100,000 Gift to CSBR

John Schwartz '67 gives $100,000 to thank Augsburg for his vocational preparation and his choir experience

It was a thrill for John Schwartz '67 to perform as a backup singer for Josh Groban, Patti LaBelle, Usher and others on the "Surprise Spectacular" show honoring Oprah's retirement from her longtime talk show. Schwartz sang as part of the famed Apollo Chorus, a 125-member "auditioned" choir in Chicago that has also performed with the Chicago Symphony.

During his student days, Schwartz sang in the Augsburg Choir throughout all four years. He says going on a five-week concert tour of Europe with the Augsburg Choir in 1965 "showed me how much joy I receive from singing choral music."

In appreciation for his Augsburg Choir experience and for his excellent education, Schwartz is giving $100,000 for a study room in the Center for Science, Business, and Religion.
