Shredding Service Coming - Clean Your Files
It is time to go through your office files and office storerooms and purge confidential documents according to your retention rules. We will bring a document destruction service to campus next week. Place a facilities work request by THIS FRIDAY, Oct. 11 to request pick-up of your confidential documents for shredding. If you have questions about what is confidential, please contact your manager. Sorry, we cannot accommodate personal shredding.
Parking Appeals Committee
Public Safety is seeking 2 faculty and 2 students to serve on the parking appeals committee. The committee meets every other week for an hour to discuss and make decisions on parking violation appeals.

In particular, Scripps has established a lengthy track record of major contributions to the betterment of health and the human condition. Scripps Research Institute faculty includes three Nobel laureates and numerous members of the National Academy of Sciences (including its Institute of Medicine), American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. Apply for Critical Language Scholarship Program
The U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce the scholarship competition for the 2014 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program in thirteen critical foreign languages. The CLS Program provides fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students.
Languages offered: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.
The application is available online at http://www.clscholarship.org. Applications will be due November 15, 2013 by 8:00 p.m. EST. Prior to preparing their application, interested students should review the full eligibility and application information on the CLS Program website http://www.clscholarship.org/applicants. Arabic, Chinese, Persian, Russian, and Japanese institutes have language prerequisites, which can also be found on the website.
Students from all academic disciplines, including business, engineering, law, medicine, science, social sciences, arts and humanities are encouraged to apply. While there is no service requirement attached to CLS Program awards, participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their professional careers.

Minneapolis-Cuernavaca 5th Anniversary Celebration
You're invited to the 5th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser for the Minneapolis-Cuernavaca Sister City Association (MCSCA) on Friday, October 11, 6-9 p.m. at the Historic Alfred Pillsbury House, home of Melissa and Uri Camarena. The event will include a photography exhibit by Michael Dvorak and Shiraz Mukarram, a silent auction, and refreshments.

Active Wellness 2014 Information Sessions
The response to the announcement of our new wellness program, Active Wellness 2014, has been great. In fact, many of you have already registered for your health evaluations. The deadline for scheduling an evaluation is October 16 and deadline for completing the health evaluation is November 11. If you have not done so, there is still time, go to the HR Moodle site in the Active Wellness 2014 section for information on how to register.

Remember, this program is offered at no cost to you, and we are offering a financial incentive for participation. Employees on our health plan can earn a discount of $25 per month (up to $300 per year) on their health insurance premiums for participation in the Active Wellness 2014 program.

MBA Executive Seminars - Chief Revenue Officer
This fall the MBA program will be hosting the first of a series of MBA Executive Seminars. The "Chief Revenue Officer" seminar is a two-part seminar held on Saturdays, October 26 and November 2, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Oren Gateway Center Room 100. A continental breakfast will be served.
The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is the person accountable for generating revenue to fund the business, deliver a profit and grow the company. Typical aliases for the Chief Revenue Office include CEO, COO, Owner, President, Vice President of Sales, etc.
Instructor Carl Moe will teach you the four core processes all Chief Revenue Officers MUST manage - or be managed by. Learn about the CRO role in B2B revenue models, how to build a 'bankable forecast', how prospects decide, skills for identifying sales talent, sales incentive plans that work, and how to shorten your sales cycle.
Carl Moe's corporate background includes decades of senior executive roles in global, high tech manufacturing industries. He has conducted business in 14 countries outside North America, serves on multiple boards, chairs the C.R.O. Roundtable and holds both engineering and business (MBA) degrees from the University of Michigan.

National Physician Assistant Week
This week, October 6-12, is National Physician Assistant (PA) Week! Augsburg PA students will be celebrating by promoting awareness of the PA profession and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, they will be volunteering at local organizations including Feed My Starving Children and Second Harvest, and hosting a 5K race!
Physician Assistants (PAs) are healthcare professionals nationally certified to practice medicine as part of a team with physicians. PAs perform a comprehensive range of medical duties, from primary care to major surgery, and they can prescribe medication in all states. This profession is rapidly growing and in great demand in the U.S.
Come and learn about the PA profession from some of the current Augsburg PA students Monday, October 7 between 10:00-11:00 a.m., in Christensen Center (PAyday candy bars will also be distributed!)
Goliard Board Game Night - 10/9
The Goliard Society of Medievalists are hosting a night of medieval board games. There will with Chess, the Vikings game, and other fun games from the middle ages, as well as pizza.

Exploring Your Leadership Style: Discover your Information Processing Preferences

Who should attend? Individuals and/or teams who want to enhance their leadership skills and effectiveness.
Discover your information processing preferences through I Opt. I Opt is a leadership assessment tool used in professional development that will help you understand how you gather, process and act on the information that is all around you. This information shapes the way you approach leadership. To effectively lead others, it's helpful to understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of your own approach.
Prior to the workshop, participants will complete a short online survey (fewer than ten minutes). The results of this survey will be used to generate a personalized report that each participant will receive at the workshop. These Advanced Leadership Reports identify information processing preferences, providing insights into issues that people bring with them everywhere they go. Tom Morgan, a certified I Opt interpreter, will explain the I Opt model and help you get the most out of your individual report.

To participate in the workshop, please RSVP by e-mail to Patty Park at parkp@augsburg.edu by Monday, October 7. You will receive an e-mail reply with directions for taking the I Opt survey. You must be present at the workshop to receive the survey results. Space is limited, so register soon.
The I Opt survey and report has a value of $25.00, but we are able to offer it for $10.00 per participant in combination with the workshop. Your $10 payment will be collected at the beginning of the event.

The Campus Cupboard, Augsburg's food shelf, will reopen on Tuesday, October 8. The Campus Cupboard is staffed by students and open to all students with an Augsburg ID.

Monday Daily Chapel: Blessing of the Animals
Join us at 10:40 a.m. on Monday, 10/7, as we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals. Our service will include a lively blessing ritual of animals and pets to honor St. Francis' devotion to all God's creatures. Bring your pet (or picture of your pet) to chapel for this special worship service in Hoversten Chapel, Foss Center.
Help Translate Children's Books to Spanish
This year we will continue with the translation of children's books to donate to CLUES. Our first gathering is this Thurs., 10/10, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in OM 201. Drop in and stay as long as you can. We will have some snacks and beverages to munch on. Everyone that speaks Spanish is invited, whether you speak a lot or a little, it doesn't matter. Bring your laptop, if possible.
All of these books will be part of a new lending library at CLUES, for families with young children. A sincere thanks to all who have donated books for this project.
