Mayo Innovations Scholar Program for Auggies

Applications for Augsburg's Mayo Innovations Scholar Program are now available! This program is highly competitive and is primarily designed for juniors and seniors.

What is MISP?
In the process of conducting research, Mayo Clinic scientists have developed new products that may be marketable. These products are submitted to the Mayo Clinic Office of Intellectual Property (OIP) for a thorough investigation of marketability. The OIP has a significant backlog of products to be investigated. One of the backlogged products or inventions is assigned to each MISP team for investigative research and formal presentation at Mayo Clinic.

Augsburg's team will consist of an MBA student, 2 or 3 undergraduate science students, 1 or 2 undergraduate business/economics students, and a Licensing Manager from the Mayo Clinic OIP. The team will work together to understand the science and applications of the projects or innovations and analyze the market potential. Each undergraduate student on the team will receive $1,000. Teams will begin work during October and the final presentations will be in March.

To Apply:
Contact urgo@augsburg.edu to request an application. Completed applications must be submitted to urgo@augsburg.edu by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

House Of Bernarda Alba Audition Notice

The Augsburg Theater Department will hold auditions for its main stage production, House of Bernarda Alba, written by Federico Garcia Lorca, translated by Michael Kidd and directed by Dario Tangelson.

Casting: Female Performers/Dancer
The female cast will perform several roles portraying several ages, as well as the ensemble. The production will be highly physical. No previous text experience is necessary.

Needed Male or Female Musicians
Looking for a guitarist and percussionist/live sound effects to create a musical atmosphere based on the environment of the play (see synopsis below). Spanish music will be played for Flamenco dancing and singing. Sound effects created on stage.

Auditions will be held in Tjornhom-Nelson Theater, in Foss Center on Monday September 9, 6-8 and
Tuesday September 10, 4-6pm. This will not have a traditional audition structure, so plan to stay for the whole session. Wear clothing for movement and experimenting.

Prepare and memorize a short piece of classic, non-classic text or poetry (does not need to be a traditional audition piece).

Call-back auditions will be held Wednesday September 11, 6-8. Plan on staying for the full session.
Rehearsals begin Monday September 16.

Performance dates are Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 at 7 pm and Nov. 3 and 10 at 3 pm.

House of Bernarda Alba is a highly physical take on Lorca's last play, which depicts the life of an affluent family in 1930′s Spain. Forced by Bernarda, the tyrannical matriarch, into an eight-year mourning period after the death of her husband, the Alba sisters see all of their dreams and deepest desires smothered by their despotic mother's rule. Forced to never leave the house and cut off from the outside world the asphyxiating atmosphere drives the sisters against each other in an inevitable path to tragedy.
Further Information and audition sign-up sheet will be posted on the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater door in the Atrium of the Foss Center. All Augsburg students are welcome to audition!

In 1995, Marie moved into the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. More recently, Marie has served as a member of the Augsburg Board of Regents, shaping what Augsburg is today and what it will be for years to come.
