A Fun Bike Ride

Hello, I'm looking for anyone who is interested to ride the Greenway Glow on Saturday, June 22, 8-10 p.m. This ride is a fundraiser for the Midtown Greenway Coalition (MGC). I have established a team you can join. There is a fee to ride in this event, but it's for a good community-building cause. There is also a free art fair that is part of this event, which takes place along the Midtown Greenway. If you are interested let me know (beckmanm@augsburg.edu) and/or find the team page at: http://greenwayglow.kintera.org/teamauggie

Night Songs: Light For A Weary World

The Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute would like to invite the entire Augsburg community to two special events on Monday, June 17. James Flaten, the associate director of the Minnesota Space Grant will be giving an astronomy presentation on various images from space in Foss 43 from 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Scott Rohr, cantor at University Lutheran Church of Hope, will lead us in an evening vespers service using these same images at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoversten Chapel. These events are part of the 2013 Youth Theology Institute's exploration of the intersection of science and religion. We hope you will join us.

Katie Edelen Wins Prestigious Scoville Fellowship

Katie Edelen, a 2011 triple major in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Studies, has been awarded the prestigious Herbert J. Scoville Fellowship for Peace and Security. Selected from an internationally competitive pool of applicants, fewer than 2 percent of applicants are awarded the fellowship. The Scoville Peace Fellowship, established in 1987, is a highly-competitive national fellowship program that provides recent college and grad school graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Supported by a full salary, the fellows serve as full-time junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice to study and practice in fields related to peace and security. Katie will focus her work on the relationship between the environmental health impacts of development on regional security conflicts.
