AugSTEM Applications Due May 9
The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, AugSTEM Scholars can receive up to $7,000 per year in financial support. Scholars also become a part of a vital STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for research, faculty mentoring, and career development.
The AugSTEM scholar award is designated for students who are within five semesters of graduating. Applicants must be full-time students in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics) with a 3.0 GPA within their major. This award is available for U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who demonstrate financial need via FAFSA. Students who began their college careers at community colleges are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
AugSTEM information packets and application materials can be found at www.augsburg.edu/stem. Applications for the 2013-2014 academic year are due May 9.

Summer GRE Prep Course at Augsburg
Registration for Augsburg's Summer GRE Prep Class is now available at the URGO website (www.augsburg.edu/urgo).
Tuesdays, 3:30-6 p.m. in Sverdrup 202
June 4th - July 23rd
Cost: $75
Augsburg College offers an eight week GRE prep course each summer for students and alumni at a cost well below those found at private test centers. This course is taught by Augsburg faculty and staff and walks students through each section of the general test. Throughout the course students complete sample test questions and receive in-depth feedback and instruction. The capacity is capped at 25 students and is first-come, first-serve, so register today!

Lindell Library Open Until 1:00 a.m.
For late-night finals studying, Lindell Library will be open later:
Monday-Friday, April 22-26: 1 a.m.
Saturday, April 27: 6:00 p.m.
Sunday-Wednesday, April 28-May 1: 1 a.m.
Come do some intense research, paper writing, and studying. We'll expect you!

Have You Found the Writing Lab?
As the term's end quickly approaches, students are wise to use the Augsburg College Writing Lab, located on the street level of Lindell Library (just to the left of the circulation desk). Tutors can help with any writing assignment.
Here are the hours -- through Wednesday of Finals Week:
Monday: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.; 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.; 3 - 5:30 p.m.; 7:30 - 10 p.m.
Wednesday: 3 - 5:30 p.m.; 6:30 - 9 p.m.
Thursday: 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.; 3 - 5:30 p.m.; 7:30 - 10 p.m.
Friday: 4:30 - 7 p.m.

Children's Book Drive Successful
A sincere thanks goes out to all who donated books for the children's book drive. You generously donated many books that we are now translating into Spanish. Soon they will be moved to CLUES, Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio, where they will be the start of a lending library that we plan to keep stocked for years to come. Thanks for making a difference!

Rental Returns and Buyback
As the semester is coming near the end, your rentals will soon be due. (May 3)
Please remember if you rented a book, you do not own the book and it can not be sold back for money. Please take all rentals to the front register and check your books in. It is the renter's responsibility to ensure books are checked - in and not sold back. You may refer to your receipt or online order invoice to see if you rented a book. Books that are not checked in by the due date will be charged to the securing credit card. (We would much rather have the book back!)
If you are selling back a book you purchased, please have your Augsburg ID in hand. Buybacks are conducted at the Book Information desk at the bookstore.
Drop-in Tutoring This Week
Business drop-in tutoring will be available through this week for ACC 221, ACC 222, and FIN 331. Students are encouraged to drop-in during the scheduled times below in the Library 302D.

To submit book orders (adoptions) on FacultyEnlight, you will need to register as a new user.

Therapy Dogs Here on Wednesday 4/24
Join Paws for Learning and CCHP for some pre-finals stress relief and tips on Wednesday 4/24/13 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Christensen Center lobby.
We will have snacks, some general handouts and of course a chance to get in a little petting and hugging with our four legged friends.

Spanish Conversation: Last Meeting This Thursday

West Bank Ride This Saturday
Take advantage of the warm weather this Saturday (April 27) by joining friends and neighbors at the West Bank Ride from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
The West Bank Ride is a new non-competitive cycling event inviting participants to explore one of the Twin Cities' most vibrant and bike-friendly neighborhoods.
The ride starts from Murphy Square and winds throughout the West Bank neighborhood, making stops at interesting sites and local businesses throughout the area. To learn more and to register online, go to www.westbankride.org.
Meet the Provost Candidate
The third and final provost candidate to visit campus is Karen Kaivola, who currently serves as Associate Provost for Faculty Development and J. Ollie Edmunds Professor of English at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Dr. Kaivola's CV is available on the Provost Search Committee's public community moodle site.
Open forums to meet Dr. Kaivola are Thursday, April 25, 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. OR 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. with a brief reception following. NOTE room change from previous communications: both are in the Marshall Room.

Unbounded Planning/Pizza Party
The Unbounded math club is hosting a Planning/Pizza Party event this Thursday (4/25) at 3:15 p.m. in SCI 108! We will be discussing future event ideas while having pizza and snacks.
Fine Arts Keystone Event to Benefit Food Shelf
Please join graduating seniors from the Music, Studio Arts, and Theater departments as they present "Food Is" a visual art and performance piece based on a semester research project that examines student hunger. The event is a benefit to raise funds, awareness and visibility of Augsburg's new food shelf, Campus Cupboard.
"Food Is" includes a collaborative performance piece and a silent auction of student artwork created this semester. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday April 27, 2013 in the basement of Old Main.
Admission is free but donations of nonperishable food items are strongly encouraged.
Light refreshments will be served.

Keeping Track of Auggies
Dr. Hensley Speaks at HealthPartners Meeting
Assistant Professor of Social Work Melissa Hensley was an invited presenter at HealthPartners' Annual Meeting earlier this week. As part of HealthPartner's CEO Mary Brainerd's "Health Partner's Report," Dr. Hensley shared the progress being made with the new behavioral health facility at Regions Hospital.
Dr. Hensley currently serves on HealthPartners Patient/Family Advisory Council for Mental Health at Regions Hospital and is featured in HealthPartners' 2012 Annual Report.
