CGE's Mexico Program Wins National Award

Last Friday, CGE's Summer Academic Program in Mexico was awarded GoAbroad Innovation Global Access and Equity award. From the nomination, here is the description: "This program was attended by a particularly diverse group of twenty-six students that included four East African students, four Latino/as, three African-Americans, and three Asian-Americans. The group also included four Muslims, two students who identified as LGBTQIA, and a student who identified as in recovery from substance abuse. An intentionally diverse community was sought via promotion of the program to traditionally underrepresented groups and specialized scholarships, such as the Students of Color Study Abroad scholarship."

This award is a testament to the great collaboration among many offices at Augsburg, including CGE Minneapolis and Mexico, Augsburg Abroad, Ethnic Student Services, LGBTQIA Services, Financial Aid, and Step Up. Thanks for putting Augsburg on the map for this much deserved recognition!

Jim Trelstad Porter was able to attend the reception at the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference in Houston and accept the award on behalf of Augsburg College. Congratulations to everyone responsible for the success of this program!

Let Your iPad Read to You

Did you know that people who are blind can still use iPads?

Come to an informal, hands-on demonstration of the iPad's accessibility features! Many of these features can be of use to anyone even if you have no difficulty seeing the screen. It can read text out loud, narrate your location on the touch screen, and more.

No need to own an iPad in order to attend; if you do have an iPad (or iPhone), bring it along and play with the options as we go. We will focus on features that help those with low vision, but there will be time to explore other accessibility features as well.

Where: OGC 201
When: Friday, June 8, from 9-9:30am
