Urban Scrubs Camp 2011

Urban Scrubs Camp ended last Friday afternoon with a closing celebration in Sateren Auditorium. Campers were joined by family members as they received certificates of completion from President Pribbenow. Dr. Paul Mueller, Augsburg alumnus, Board of Regents member, and head of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic, offered words of congratulations and encouragement to the participants and their families. The ceremony featured a slide slow highlighting camp activities from the week including classroom and lab sessions, a visit to the University of Minnesota Medical School, a field trip to the Belwin Nature Conservancy in Afton, and fun-filled evening recreational activities. To view photos from Urban Scrubs Camp, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/augsburgcollege/sets/72157627341892782/.

A camp experience like this does not happen without the participation and support of a lot of people. Thanks to the Augsburg faculty, staff, and students who were involved in Urban Scrubs Camp and contributed greatly to its success- Justin Nash, Brian Noy, Melissa Hensley, Katie Welle, Trent Whitcomb, Joan Kunz, Dale Pederson, Patrice Salmeri, Laura Roller, Sara Schlipp-Riedel, Hamlimo Abdulkariam, Salma Ahmed, and Jennifer Engle. Special thanks to Sandy Tilton for spending the week at camp and handling so many of the details associated with making it happen. Also, many thanks to Boston Scientific for providing major financial sponsorship for Urban Scrubs Camp and to the numerous other providers of scholarships which made participation possible for so many of the youth.
