Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Riverside Ave Construction Underway

Riverside Ave. construction is underway and will affect access to the Minneapolis campus this summer and for the duration of the 2011 construction season. Augsburg College students, employees, and visitors should plan extra time for travel and be prepared for delays getting to and from campus.

Recommended alternate routes and information about parking implications during the Riverside Ave. construction are available here: http://www.augsburg.edu/dps/documents/construction.pdf .

This information will be available on the Augsburg web site at www.augsburg.edu/about/map.html and the Augsburg construction information hotline, 612-330-1776.

Alternate transportation options include Metro Transit light rail and bus lines. Discount transit passes are available through the Enrollment Center. The Nice Ride Minnesota bike station can be used for those who wish to commute by bike.

Finally, please note that there will be increased traffic, including emergency vehicles, routed through campus as a result of the Riverside Ave. project. Pedestrians are advised to use cross walks and exercise caution when crossing streets on campus during the construction period.

Farmers Market Today - Rain or Shine

The West Bank Farmers Market begins today! The market begins at the Brian Coyle Community Center from 11-1 pm and continues at Augsburg in front of Foss Chapel from 2-5 pm.

This year we're excited to introduce many new items and will be accepting EBT for the first time. Besides the fantastic vegetables that our farmers will grow, Campus Kitchen will be selling many new items. Today you'll find bread from New French Bakery, rice, oil, and possibly a few other things. You'll definitely be able to find enough for a full meal (at least a vegetarian stir fry).

Each week we will be sending out an email with announcements, vegetable profiles (learn what kohlrabi is!), and get recipes for what's in season. You can sign up on our listserv by following this link: http://listserv.augsburg.edu/sympa/subscribe/westbankfarmersmarket-list

And in case you're worried about the weather, check out the radar here so you plan around it: http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/Minneapolis+MN+55454

Hope to see you soon!
