COOKING CLASSES
To create the meals we serve Mon-Fri, we will prepare the meals Sun-Thurs evenings, 7-9 pm in the Christensen Center kitchen.
- Each evening Augsburg students will lead a class cooking a different meal (menus will be available online soon)
- Meals will be simple, affordable, use vegetables that are in season, healthy, and if all goes right, delicious
- All the participants will enjoy the meal at the end and can take 1-2 meals home with them along with the recipe

DELIVERY SHIFTS
Thursdays 11-1 pm - Peace House homeless shelter (free lunch)
Thursdays 2-3 pm - Prepare senior meals
Thursdays 3-6 pm - Deliver senior meals door to door
Fridays (1st and 3rd) 5:30-7:30 pm - Banquet at Ebenezer apartment (free dinner)
Sundays (some) 6-9 pm - Secure Waiting homeless shelter

EDUCATION CLASSES
We will be teaching kids cooking and gardening at the Brian Coyle Community Center Mon-Thu 12-4 pm, and we are looking for consistent volunteers (can be created as an education internship) to assist with those. Those helping will enjoy a lunch and snack with the kids.

SITE MONITORING
We are setting up a system for monitoring the eight sites we serve at (we are receiving federal funds that require intense reporting). We are looking for 1-2 students who will be briefly trained as monitors, and can visit these sites to ensure correct reporting, and always enjoy a meal onsite.

To sign up for cooking classes and delivery shifts, go to our calendar at www.tinyurl.com/ckpcalendar.
To learn more and sign up for other shifts, contact us at campuskitchen@augsburg.edu.

Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute

Approximately 20 high school students from around Minnesota will gather at Augsburg College on Sunday June 26th to spend a week studying theology at our annual Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute. This year's theme is “Our Wild and Reckless God: What Does Forgiveness Mean?” Dr. Mark Tranvik, Professor and Chair of Religion at Augsburg College, will guide the students through a theological exploration of forgiveness in class during the week. The students' classroom learning will be enhanced with a variety of community-based learning experiences including a visit to Mt. Zion Temple, the Basilica of St. Mary, Thrivent's religious art gallery, and Campus Kitchen. We also take in a fair share of fun and good food during the week. If you see this group on campus, be sure to ask them what they know about forgiveness.

Volunteer Opportunity -- Thrivent Builds Partners

Volunteer Opportunity!
Thrivent Builds partners with Habitat for Humanity

Hi I am Dave Lange, an alumni and husband to our swimming coach Kasi
Lange, I would like to invite, staff, faculty, Augsburg alumni, friends, and family (we need about 16 people each day) to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity at a home in North Minneapolis on August 8th and/or August 9th. We will volunteer each day, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. My company, Thrivent Financial, has graciously sponsored all of the expenses associated with volunteering with Habitat.

So, put on your work clothes and come join me, and other members of the Augsburg community and build a home for a family in need.

To volunteer please contact Dave and let him know if you are interested in joining them. Email:
dave.lange@thrivent.com or Phone: 612-616-6150.

Here is a short YouTube video about Thrivent Builds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAkBssEsexg

“Habitat for Humanity's relationship with Thrivent Financial brings
the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial
together with the affordable housing construction leadership of hundreds
of local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. During the past five years, this
integrated effort resulted in the construction of nearly 1,500 homes in
the United States, which engaged approximately 450,000 volunteers who
contributed nearly 3 million volunteer hours toward the effort”.
