Norwegian Culture and Contemporary Issues - March 30

Professor Frankie Shackelford, professor of Norwegian and chair of Augsburg's department of languages and cross-cultural studies, will lead an evening session introducing Norwegian culture and contemporary issues on Tuesday, March 30. Shackelford, this year's co-chair of the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, has studied and traveled extensively in Norway.

This session will begin with social time at 5:30 p.m. The program, with ample time for questions, will follow from 6-7 p.m. in the Oren Gateway Center, Room 100.

Augsburg's Center for Leadership Studies is pleased to present this event in conjunction with its upcoming Educational and Cultural Tour of Norway, June 5 – 15. The event is open to the whole Augsburg community. You are welcome to bring guests.

For more information or to reserve a space, contact Patty Park, 612-330-1150 or parkp@augsburg.edu.

Free Buffet Dinner Tonight in High rise Banquet Hall

Campus Kitchen will be serving our Friday night dinner at Ebenezer Apartments tonight from 6-7 pm (van leaves at 5:30). Dinner is served to some of the finest seniors I know, on the 26th floor with a 360 degree view of the Minneapolis sunset. We are looking for 1 or 2 others to help serve. After 30 minutes of serving, you'll be able to sit down and enjoy a meal with the diners.

Let me know if you and/or a date would like to join us tonight, or you are interested in future volunteer opportunities. www.augsburg.edu/campuskitchen

House of Sharing Tabling Next Week

Augsburg's cast of the Vagina Monologues raised just over $800 (wow!) last month for The House of Sharing, a shelter in Seoul, South Korea that provides supportive residence to women who were forced into sexual slavery during WWII.

We are continuing to raise awareness on behalf of the Grandmothers/Halmonis by tabling in Christensen Monday-Wednesday on March 22, 23, and 24.

Please stop by and get some Amnesty International literature, view some of the Grandmothers' beautiful artwork, and sign a petition that acknowledges their stories and struggles. Help us continue to fight alongside the Grandmothers for justice.

Thanks for your support!
