Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Building Hours - Dec. 18 to Jan. 3

Note: The Library and Athletics have published operating schedules. Those facilities will open and close according to their published schedules.

1 - Buildings will be unlocked each weekday morning at their normal time. Buildings will remain closed on holidays (12/24, 12/25, 1/1) and weekends UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building open.

2 - Buildings will close at 5 p.m. UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building open later. Officers will be making regular rounds through buildings. On Dec 28 to 31, the officers will close a building if, during their rounds, they find it empty. If you leave for the day and believe your building will be empty, please call x1717 and let us know.

3 - Conference rooms, classrooms and labs will remain locked UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the space.

4 - If the space you need is locked, and you have a legitimate reason to be in there, please call x1717 and an officer will do their best to assist you. Please have photo ID and show it to the officer. Some officers will be working different shifts over the break and may not have had the opportunity to meet you.

5 - Whenever possible, don't work alone. Ideally, there should always be two or more people in your area. If you are working alone, I encourage you to call x1717 and let us know. We will have officers walk by your area more frequently.

6 - If you see anything suspicious, please call x1717 immediately!

Alternative Spring Break- Sweet Homes in Alabama

Announcing this year's Alternative Spring Break Service-Learning Trip
March 14-20, 2010 - Mobile County, Alabama

The past several years, Augsburg students have dedicated their spring break to hurricane recovery work in the Gulf Coast area. This year 40 students will be able to return to the Gulf to help with disaster response and general support work at two sites: Bayou La Batre and Mobile.

Besides working in the community, there will be time for exploring the area. Possible highlights include: Dauphin Island, the shipyard that built the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean, the USS Alabama, eating fresh seafood, and visiting the home of "Forrest Gump".

This service-learning trip is a collaborative effort between Campus Ministry and the Bonner program. We are extremely excited for students to serve, learn, and share their gifts as they experience southern culture and create ways to connect their spring break service experiences back in the Augsburg community.

If interested in learning more (location, details, etc), please consider attending one of two informational sessions: Wednesday, Jan. 13, 8:00 PM (location: TBA) OR Thursday, Jan. 14, 12:00 PM in the Chapel

• Registration begins January 11, 2009 and will be on a 'first come, first served' basis
• $100 deposit holds your spot; Total trip cost is $300/person (includes travel, lodging, and most meals)
