Hosts Needed for Int'l Student Welcome Dinners

We are still looking for 3-4 more faculty/staff to host our new international students for a "home cooked" welcome dinner on Friday, September 4. Students are divided into groups of 3-6, depending on the number you may receive. You must pick the students up in Urness/Mort Lobby between 5-5:30p.m. Most groups return to Augsburg between 7-8:30p.m., depending on your schedule. Metropass Replacing Monthly Transit Passes Sept. 1

The monthly passes that have been sold in the previous years will be discontinued as of September 1, 2009 and be replaced by the new Metropass Go-To Card. Order your Metropass card as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition to the new pass. There will be a 2 -3 week delay between the time the application is filled out and the time the new Metropass cards are delivered. Fill out a Metropass application at the Enrollment service counters at Sverdrup 100 as soon as possible. If you still have time on your current monthly transit pass when your Metropass arrives you will be able to get a per day refund on the remaining days on the pass. All Augsburg employees working 20 hours per week or greater are eligible to participate in the Metropass program.

Participants must sign up for the pass for a contract year that begins this September 1st and goes through August 31, 2010. The cost of the pass is $38.00 per month and it will be automatically deducted (pre-tax) from participants pay. Each participant has the opportunity to renew their card during the last month of the contract year. The Go-To cards are quicker to use on bus and trains and they also eliminate the need to go and purchase a monthly card at the service counter every month. The Go-To cards are good for light rail and buses, every day, all day including trips to some of the outlying suburbs. Additional cash will be needed for exceptionally long commutes outside the 7 county metro area.

Participants must agree to participate for the contract year, allow their I.D. picture to be used on the Go-To card and participants must return the card to Human Resources when their employment at the college ends. The cash value cards will still be on sale at the Enrollment counter with the same 50% discount as before. If you need more information please call Tom Ruffaner @ Ext. 1641.

Joe Mauer Signed Bobblehead

Hi all-

Thank you once again to all of you who have sponsored my marathon by donating to the Children's Tumor Foundation. Just when I thought the raffle drawing was done with, Joe Mauer and his family graciously sent me a signed bobblehead to give to one lucky donor. My goal this year was to raise $2,000 dollars to help find a cure for Neurofibromatosis and Joe is going to help me do it. Any donation of $20 or more between now and September 30 will make you eligible in the drawing for the signed bobblehead. To find out more about why I am raising money for Neurofibromatosis or to find out how to donate check out this web site:

Truly thanks again so much for your support,

Rachel Heiman
