Fulbright Program Officer in St. Paul

Our colleagues at Macalester College have extended an invitation for us to attend a meeting with a Program Officer discussing Fulbright.

Date: Tuesday, May 19
Time: 8:30-10 a.m.
Where: Macalester College, Weyerhaeuser Hall in the Weyerhaeuser Board Room

The workshop is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about the Fulbright Scholar programs for U.S. faculty and professionals. Ms. Cunniffe will outline the program requirements and specifics, discuss reasons to consider a Fulbright, and detail what it takes to prepare a competitive proposal. She will also discuss programs that bring Fulbright Visiting Scholars to the U.S. and other Fulbright programs. The workshop will include ample time for questions and discussion of your particular topics or concerns. The chance to have a free give and take session with a Fulbright representative is a great advantage to having Ms. Cunniffe visit. Please let me know ( forbes@augsburg.edu ) if you plan to attend so I can inform our hosts of the expected number from Augsburg.

35mm Cameras Needed for Community Photo Project

I am seeking 35mm cameras that are in good condition that could be used and/or purchased for a five week Community Photography class that will start in June with Augsburg students and teens from the Karen Community. The Karen are a group of newly arrived immigrants who currently reside in St. Paul. The teens are part of an ELL class at Arlington High School and this will be their first venture to Minneapolis.

This class will teach 35mm camera operation and darkroom technique. The work produced in the course will be exhibited as part of the Nobel Peace Prize Forum which will be held at Augsburg next year.

I need 4-5 cameras that are still in decent operating condition. The cameras will be put to good use and returned at the end of the class. Dust off those old cameras and put them to good use!!!
