Use Community Service Hours with Campus Kitchen

With summer programs wrapping up (thanks TRIO and AASK for your help!) and students not quite back on campus, the Campus Kitchen Project needs assistance to cover shifts (especially cooking and Sunday shifts) into September. Please join us for a evening or two (you can even get paid with your 16 hours of community service)! Check out our new volunteer calendar here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pnEnj5_k0ileAHqYy1-a6PA&hl=en and let me know if any opportunities work for you.

Besides preparing and delivering meals, we're constructing a hoop style, smaller greenhouse near the garden to produce veggies into the winter. If you have any or no carpentry skills and would like to help, we'll be working on it every afternoon next week. Let me know if you can come. Thanks in advance! campuskitchen@augsburg.edu

Remember, all staff have 16 paid hours of community service that can go towards assisting us.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Ben Katz '08 to Screen Film on Aug. 22

On Friday, Aug. 22 at the Uptown Theatre, film alumnus Ben Katz '08 will be screening "Bits," an independent film about an awkward inventor who spends his days and nights obsessing over a mysterious project. Katz produced the film, and it stars Augsburg alumni Linnea Mohn '04, Philip Mershon '06, and Nancy Waldoch '06.

"Bits" is the first film by Minneapolis-based FRD Productions. To create the film, an entirely local cast and crew of over 50 people relied on intuition, collaboration, and improvisation rather than traditional narrative methods.

The Uptown Theater is located at the corner of Hennepin Avenue and Lagoon in Uptown Minneapolis. Doors to the sneak preview screening open at 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 22. Admittance is free of charge. For more information, go to www.bitsmovie.com, or contact Ben Katz at (651) 249-4154.
