Carbon Monoxide Alarms


CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS -- MINNESOTA STATUTE 299F.50
The 2006 legislative session passed a new carbon monoxide (CO) law (MN § 299F.50) requiring CO alarms in all single family homes and multifamily apartment units.

Effective January 1, 2007 all newly constructed single family homes and multifamily dwelling units for which building permits were issued on or after January 1, 2007 shall be provided with approved carbon monoxide alarms.

Effective August 1, 2008, all existing single family homes shall be equipped with approved carbon monoxide alarms.

General Location Requirements:
Every single family dwelling and every multifamily dwelling unit shall be provided with a minimum of one approved and fully operational carbon monoxide alarm installed within ten (10) feet of each room lawfully used for sleeping purposes. If bedrooms are located on separate floors additional carbon monoxide alarms would be necessary within ten feet of these areas.

Emergency Call Boxes

The emergency call boxes near the athletic field will be out of service Wednesday, August 6 and possibly Thursday, August 7 due to construction. Please contact Public Safety at 612-330-1717 or 911 in the case of an emergency.

Teaching and Learning

Office 2007 Training Session

Please join IT staff for a hands on overview of the new Office 2007 for Windows features on Thursday, August 7 from 3-4 p.m. in Sverdrup 201. We will demonstrate tips and tricks, working with the Windows Start button and features of the new ribbon interface. We'll also take a look at training resources you can explore on your own including the interactive command reference guide and tutorials from Atomic Learning.

Additional training sessions will be added in the coming week. We look forward to seeing you there!

Wednesday Gathering

Old Blue Eyes, Dino & Penne Pasta today in the East Commons from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Now that's amore!

The security and custodial night shift employees are also invited to the Wednesday Evening Gathering at 8 p.m. in the Minneapolis Room.

The first-Wednesday-of-the-month gatherings support our commitment to building community and practicing common work. They are an opportunity to get to know one another, exchange ideas, and collaborate in new ways. We hope you will invite your colleagues and plan to join us!

Renaissance Festival Tickets

It's that time again -- HR has discount Renaissance Festival tickets for purchase! Adult tickets are ONLY $15.50 each (normally $19.95) and child tickets (ages 6-12) are $7.50 each (normally $10.95). We are also offering Food Books for only $5 -- each book is a $6 value.

The Renaissance Festival is open on the weekends between Aug. 16 and Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday, Sept.1, and Friday, Sept. 26. The event is open rain or shine, and parking is free.
