Security Notice: Attempted Burglary in Science

On Saturday, May 24, 2008, fresh pry marks were found on the northwest exterior door to the Science Building. At this present, there is no evidence that the person responsible for the marks was able to enter the building. Please contact Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety (x1717) if you have more information regarding this incident.

You can help prevent crime at Augsburg!

- Unlocked doors and windows are a factor in 80% of burglaries on campus.

- Lock your door whenever you leave your office, even if you will only be gone for a minute. The average residential burglary takes under than two minutes. Office burglaries take even less time.

- Lock your windows when you leave for the day, regardless of what floor your office is on.

- Do not keep your wallet, purse or other valuables on your windowsill if your window can be reached from the ground.

- Keep your car keys on you at all times, especially if your car has a remote unlocking device.

- Immediately report all suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety at 1717 from an on-campus phone or 612-330-1717 from an off-campus phone.

If you have questions or concerns regarding crime at Augsburg, please contact John Pack, Director of Public Safety at 612-330-1644 or pack@augsburg.edu.

Join in the First-Annual Campus Beautification Day

Pull on your work boots and roll up your sleeves! It's time to spruce up our campus and neighborhood at the first annual Campus Beautification Day. Faculty and staff are invited to participate in one of three projects.

Want to be outside? Pick up trash along the river or dig into our community garden. Does your own space need some help? Get your team together and fix it up!

Fruit, granola bars, and water coolers will be provided. Bring your own reusable water containers (sippy cup, Nalgene bottle, canteen) and additional snacks if you're planning to burn a lot of calories.

Campus Beautification Day will be Wednesday, June 11, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. After a day of good old-fashioned work, all are invited to attend the staff senate picnic in Murphy Park at 1 p.m.

Learn about the projects and sign up at www.augsburg.edu/marcomm/cbd.

Submit Descriptions to the SOAR Welcome Folder

Greetings,

The Department of Campus Activities and Orientation is asking campus departments and offices to provide information about their services to us to put in Welcome Folders that will be given to incoming first-year students at SOAR, held between July 15-19.

Information should fit on a standard letter-sized piece of paper and should be presented in an attractive layout (please remember that students are unlikely to read documents that are just a lot of words on a colored piece of paper). Please keep in mind that students will be receiving a great deal of information during their time here, so keeping your document succinct will be a service to them, and making it stand out will be of greater service to your department. We would also like to remain environmentally conscious, so if you can fit everything you need on a half sheet of paper that would be greatly appreciated.

All funds required for photocopying are the responsibility of your department. We are expecting nearly 450 first-years to come in this year, so please provide us with 475 copies of your information.

Please have all documents to us by Wednesday, July 9 at 2 p.m. They can be delivered to the Auggie Room (1F) in the Auggie's Nest in Christensen Center.

If you have any questions, please contact us at orientat@augsburg.edu or call at ext. 1100.
