Subject: FACULTY: Those letters students give you...
Submitter:
Regina Hopingardner, Administrative Assistant, CLASS Program

Message: Students will be letting you know that they work with either the CLASS Office or the Access Center by giving you a form letter to sign. Please look at the accommodations section which lists those academic accommodations that a student is eligible for. The back of the letter also has details about the procedure faculty should follow when a student is taking a test in the Groves Lab.

When a student gives you one of these letters, please sign it and keep the white copy for your records.

Students can only take exams with us if they give you the letter and return the signed yellow copy to us--and then fill out a proctor request form for each test.

If you have any questions, please call CLASS at x1053, Access at x1749, or the Accommodations Specialist Rebecca Lund at x1353. We have more faculty information at: http://www.augsburg.edu/classprogram/faculty.html

Subject: What's happening in the old bookstore space?
Submitter:
Ann L Garvey, Vice President of Student Affairs, Student Affairs

Message: A frequently asked question lately is "What's happening with the old bookstore space?" now that the new bookstore in Oren Gateway is open.

Members of the Orientation Team assisted Christensen Center Task Force and decorated the windows of the space. You'll notice the interior has been re-arranged for short-term use for some events during Auggie Days and the coming weeks.

The plan is to address some plumbing and other infrastructure issues. We're not sure how long this will take, but once done, we will create student lounge space. The hope is that this can be accomplished by the end of fall semester/trimester. We will keep the campus informed as we go along.

The Christensen Center Task Force will host community meetings during fall trimester/semester to inform campus members of the future plans for the building and to continue to seek input. Watch for news in the coming days.

For information on activities to date, please check out our website at www.augsburg.edu/cctf

Subject: sitter needed for children of college instructor
Submitter:
Kent Christian McGuire, Instructor, Music

Message: I am looking for a college student with baby sitting/nanny / early childhood development experience, who wouldn't mind looking after my 3 1/4 year old son and 19 month old daughter on MONDAYs while I teach between 12:10-1:10.
I also have need for the occassional Thursday Afternoon for a class
I teach in St. Paul between 4:00-5:15.

Some background.
My son is starting to read (both English and ancient Greek) and has some pretty good hand-eye coordination (baseball and Football) and likes to draw portraits and sing. My daughter is starting to identify her letters and their sounds. Like her older brother she is beginning to draw (mostly circles) and she loves to sing the "novelty songs" of Rosemary Clooney (Mambo Italiano, Baciami, Come-on-a-my house). They both have a pretty good sense of pitch and rhythm.

Interested parties who do not mind spending an 1 1/2 (esp. on Mondays) with some great kids, please contact me at the numbers below
