Subject: Instructional and Course Design proposals due 5/4

Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message: Instructional and Course Design Summer Stipends
Call for Proposals - Summer 2007

The Instructional and Course Design initiative within the Center for Teaching and Learning invites proposals for design-based course-related projects to be undertaken during Summer 2007 and completed by the end of Fall term 2007. The proposal timeline is short (proposals are Due May 4), proposal turnaround will be fast (decisions by May 11), and the opportunities for support and collaboration in this first exploration into a new way of thinking about and doing our pedagogical work will be remarkable. All faculty who are creating new learning experiences or revising existing ones are encouraged to submit.

A link to the complete Call for Proposals and application can be found on the Center for Teaching and Learning website, www.augsburg.edu/ctl.

Subject: Full-time faculty expected to attend commencement
Submitter:
Anthony A Bibus III, Professor, Social Work

Message: Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of the Faculty Senate, I would like to remind all full-time faculty of the expectation that we all attend each of the commencements:
Saturday, May 5, 11:00AM
Sunday, June 24, 11:00AM

The policy requiring attendance at commencements appears in the Faculty Handbook, Section 3.3.6 College Activities:
"Attendance at Opening Convocation, Honors Convocation, and Commencement is expected of all full-time faculty."

I am also reminded of the root meaning of "celebrate": "visit frequently or in great numbers" -- so this is our chance to celebrate learning and achievement and our good work and teaching "in great numbers"!
