Subject: Athletic Facilities Closed Easter Weekend
Submitter:
Kristen L Kraft, Athletic Facilities Manager, Athletic Facilities

Message: All Athletic Facilities, including both fitness centers and Melby Gym, will be closed Easter weekend: April 6, 7 & 8. We will reopen with regular hours at 6:00am Monday, April 9.

Subject: Poster-making workshop - Last chance
Submitter:
Dixie Shafer, Director, Office for Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity

Message: Learn the dos and don'ts of research poster making at URGO's Research Poster Making Workshop on Tuesday, April 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Sverdrup computer room 205.

We'll look at numerous samples for clues as to what works, talk about how research is communicated in various disciplines, and cover basic technology for making a poster. You'll have time to get started making your poster or to finish refining it.

Both faculty and students are encouraged to attend.

Questions: contact Dixie Shafer, shafer@augsburg.edu or x1447.

Subject: First meeting on faith and learning this Wednesday
Submitter:
John Knight, Associate Director, Center for Faith and Learning

Message: On behalf of the Office of the Dean, the Religion Department and the Exploring Our Gifts Program, we would like to invite you to a conversation on the future of a proposed Augsburg Center for Faith and Learning. Please consider attending one of these two meetings:

Wednesday, April 4, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Or
Monday, April 9, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Both conversations will be held in the Marshall Room.

David Tiede, Mark Tranvik, Phil Quanbeck and John Knight have made several presentations on this idea to the faculty, staff, senior College administration, volunteer leadership and alumni since last fall. You may also recall that this is a proposal to sustain the work of our Lilly grants, in accord with Augsburg 2004. We are moving ahead with our plans and we would like your feedback about the shape of the Center. The latest draft reflects conversations that we have had with a number of people, including many of you. Now we desire a wider conversation.

You can find a draft of a business plan proposal for the Augsburg Center for Faith and Learning on the Exploring Our Gifts public drive, or feel free to email knightj@augsburg.edu and request a copy. We would like you to read the draft (number five) and respond to the following questions:

1. Can you advise or help us identify and articulate the desired educational results related to this proposal? (See especially Exhibit B among the appendices)

2. Can you advise us with regard to the work that will be required to produce the intended results in: a) faculty development, b) student engagement, c) public presence of the ACFL and the College?

3. Finally, is there anything else that you believe requires comment, evaluation or reevaluation?

Our desire is to incorporate as many ideas and insights into a new draft that will be presented to the Board of Regents at the end of April. If you are unable to attend one of these gatherings please feel free to send comments to Mark Tranvik, David Tiede, Phil Quanbeck II or John Knight.

Coffee and treats will be served!

Thank you for your participation in this worthy effort.

Submitter:
Will O'Berry, Assistant Director, Campus Activities/GLBTQA Advisor, Campus Activities and Orientation

The last of this year’s Soup & Sexuality series taking place on the first Tuesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m., "Sexuality & Augsburg" will involve a panel of Augsburg students, administrators, staff, and faculty and their view of how gender identity and sexual identity play a role at Augsburg as well as what needs to be done in the future.

Please mark this time on your calendar and join us for free lunch and some fascinating conversation.

We'll also have more familiar board games like chess and Nine Men's Morris. Medieval Game Night will take place in on Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 9 p.m., in Sverdrup 202. Refreshments will be served. For more info, contact Phil Adamo, adamo@augsburg.edu.
