Message: It's the time of year for Herberger's Community Day Sale. The Augsburg Cheer Team is selling Community Day coupon booklets for a fundraiser. It's the same great deal this season: for each $5 donation you make to our cheer team, you will receive a $10 off coupon and eight 20% off coupons. It's going to be a big sale; there is even a bonus buy of $30 off entire stock of men's and women's Clarks shoes for that day. In addition, these coupons can be used at any Herberger’s, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Prairie Scott, Elder-Beerman, and Yonker’s stores. Community Day is on Saturday, March 3rd, and we will be selling them from now until that day. Please let me know how many you or any of your family members or friends would like. Then, we can arrange when I can stop by to give you your coupons and pick up your donation. Thanks for your continuous support for our team!

If you would like to donate to our fundraiser and receive coupon booklets please contact Cheer Captain Megan Schiller at schillem@augsburg.edu.

Subject: Food Shelf needs help
Submitter:
Cindy G Peterson, Director, American Indian Student Services

Message: The Division of Indian Work, a division of the Greater Metropolitan Council of Churches, is experiencing a food shelf crisis. Over the holidays this year the demand for food was doubled what they have seen in previous years. Contributions of food and money have fallen off significantly.

DIW is no longer able to bear the costs of providing healthy food at past levels. Now, they can only allow low-income families to use the food shelf once every two months rather than once a month. They can only open the food shelf four days a week rather than five and must limit access to families with children or individuals who are elderly or disabled. Not since their program began in 1952 have they faced such disheartening choices.

They need our help. Cash donations can be made to the Division of Indian Work and sent to Noya Woodrich, Executive Director at 1001 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407. I'm sure they would welcome food donations as well.

Horizon's Unlimited, the DIW food shelf, serves the American Indian community.
