Subject: Today Crititical Thinking Skills Consultations

Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message:
All full and part-time faculty who teach courses that contain a speaking, writing, critical thinking, or quantitative reasoning graduation skill component are required to have attended a "consultation" on the particular skill. For fall semester, faculty members may teach skill courses provided they attend a scheduled session. (If you have attended an appropriate skills consultation in the past it is not necessary to attend again.)

Critical Thinking: Monday, September 25, 3:30-5:30 in the Marshall Room

It is important that you pre-register. In the past we have cancelled workshops due to lack of registered participants. To reserve a space call x1229 or e-mail martin@augsburg.edu

Subject: Conversation and Book Group

Submitter:
Ron Petrich, Assistant Professor, Education

Message: Several faculty and staff members have indicated a desire to have regular conversations related to our work and our lives. We will use Parker Palmer's book, A Hidden Wholeness -The Journey Toward An Undivided Life as a catalyst for our conversations. The subtitle is "Welcoming the Soul and Weaving Community in a Wounded World." Join us on a regular basis to slow down and participate in thoughtful conversation and generative questions.

Picking a time and format that works for everyone is difficult. To get us started we will meet on October 2 from 3:30-5. (place to be determined) At this initial session we will distribute Parker's book, set a calendar for the fall, and have a conversation using a "third thing" to get us started. For further information or to RSVP contact Ron Petrich at 330-1593 or petrich@augsburg.edu
