Subject: REMINDER: Lot H Closed for Gateway Construction

Submitter:
John Pack, Director, Public Safety

Message: As most of you are aware, Lot H, also know as the North Faculty Staff Lot, is closed for construction of the Gateway building. Faculty and staff parking displaced by this project has shifted to Lot L, which is the newly constructed parking lot just east of the athletic field.

Starting Monday, September 4, and continuing until Friday, September 8, the Department of Public Safety will have an employee stationed at the old entrance to Lot H. The employee will be on-site from 7:30 to 10 a.m. If you are unsure how to get to the new parking lot, feel free to swing by the old Lot H entrance to pick up a map and have your questions answered. You can also call the Department of Public Safety at 612-330-1717 with your parking questions. That phone is answered all day, every day.

Subject: Student Parking Permits On-Sale THURSDAY!!

Submitter:
John Pack, Director, Public Safety

Message: General student parking permit sales were held the fourth week of August. If you missed this opportunity to purchase a parking permit, a second permit sale is being held on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 beginning at 7 a.m. Permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a limited number of permits remaining, but commuter, resident, and New Hall underground garage permits are all still available.

Permits are sold on-line. To learn to use the system, go to www.augsburg.edu/dps and click on "Parking Information." This website explains HOW to purchase a permit. To ACTUALLY purchase your permit, you need to login to AugNet and click on "Parking Services." You will need a credit card to complete your purchase. Your permit will be sent to your on-campus box.

Resident students interested in Minneapolis street parking permits should contact Krista Young at youngk@augsburg.edu. We have about 60 city street permits left.

If you have any parking questions, please contact the Department of Public Safety at x1717.

Subject: New Faculty and Staff Dinner Invitation

RE: Campus Connections Dinner

If you were able to attend orientation earlier in the week, we wanted to thank you for your presence. We realize you were given quite a bit of information in a short amount of time and we are appreciative of your attention. However, that was just the beginning of your orientation to Augsburg, and there will be other events throughout the year to which you will be invited.

The Augsburg Paideia Seminar for New Faculty begins on the 14th. The Campus Connections will have its first meeting on the 22nd at noon in the Minneapolis Room.

Prior to that gathering, we are inviting you to a dinner at St. Martin's Table on Thursday the 7th of September from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. St. Martin's is an easy walk from campus as it is located a 2001 Riverside Avenue. The evening will be a chance to socialize with your colleagues and resume friendships you might have begun at the orientation. Dinner will be simple; soup and salad accompanied by St. Martin's wonderful bread. We hope the evening will be a relaxing time after the first few hectic days of students arriving and classes beginning.

So that we may give St. Martin's an accurate count of how much food to prepare
please RSVP to Terry Martin (martin@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1229) by Wednesday the 7th.

Subject: FACULTY: The letters students give you from CLASS & Access

Submitter:
Regina Hopingardner, Administrative Assistant, CLASS Program

Message: Students will be letting you know that they work with either the CLASS Office or the Access Center by giving you a letter to sign. It does actually contain vital information. The main thing to look at is the accommodations section which lists those academic accommodations that a student is eligible for. The back of the letter also has details about the procedure faculty should follow when a student is taking a test in the Groves Lab.

When a student gives you one of these letters, please sign it and keep the white copy for your records. Students can only take their tests with us if they give you the letter and return the signed yellow copy to us--and then fill out a proctor request form for each test.

If you have any questions, please call us at x1053. We have more faculty information at: http://www.augsburg.edu/classprogram/faculty.html
