Ideally situated at the junction of multiple Metro Transit bus lines and located between stops for the Metro Blue Line and the Metro Green Line, Augsburg benefits from its location at one of the busiest crossroads in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. If it’s dark out and you would like an escort to the Blue Line Station, the Department of Public Safety offers rides there and back to campus, just call 612-330-1717. Do note that this service is available dusk until dawn and not during the day.
Augsburg students, faculty, and staff actively work to reduce use of and dependence on cars – and take advantage of subsidized transit passes that greatly reduce the costs of riding the bus or using the light rail.
The ever-growing community of bike commuters make use of Augsburg’s close proximity to the metro area’s extensive bike trail system and the Midtown Greenway just a few blocks south of the Minneapolis campus. Commercial bike rentals are available from Nice Ride, which features a docking location on Riverside Avenue. There are available bike racks on all Metro Transit buses and light rail cars to securely store your bike during your commute.
Augsburg’s Day Student Government and the Environmental Action Committee have coordinated free bike checkouts, available through Lindell Library.

Students
All day program students are eligible to receive the Auggie Pass. See the Auggie Pass page on this website for more information.
Adult Undergraduate (AU) and Graduate students can purchase a Semester pass at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore anytime during the fall, spring, or summer semesters.
Length of Terms
Spring: Jan. 1 – May 31
Summer: June 1 – Aug. 15
Fall: Aug. 15 – Dec. 31
Employees
Employees working a 20-hour week (40-hour pay period) and SEIU faculty members are eligible for a Metropass discount. The current cost is $83 per month. Augsburg University will subsidize cost of $43, resulting in final cost to faculty and staff of $40.00 per month or $20.00 per pay period. Metro Mobility users are eligible for an equivalent contribution. To enroll, please visit the Metropass Enrollment/Cancellation form available on the Human Resources website.
Metro Transit’s Transit Assist Program (TAP)
The Transit Assistance Program (TAP) is designed to help make public transit more affordable for low-income residents.
To sign up, you must:
- Present one of the following accepted certificates listed below.
- Show a photo ID card or utility statement with your name and address on it.
- Add money to your TAP card.
- Once the TAP card is used, you will have access to the $1.00 fare for a full year.
