Augsburg Closing Spaces to Public Access, Encouraging Social Distancing

Updated 3/17/2020

This is an important update that will impact students on the Minneapolis campus. On March 17, Augsburg will close many public spaces in order to meet federal, state, and local guidelines calling for social distancing to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Most recently, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued an order to temporarily close bars, restaurants, and other places of “public amusement.”

All Augsburg University buildings will be closed to the public. Students, faculty, and staff will have fob access to buildings during normal hours, except to Si Melby and Kennedy, which will be open only to faculty, staff, and coaches with offices in the building. The closures include the Si Melby fitness centers and gym, the Dome, the Veterans Lounge in the Oren Gateway Center, the Student Lounge in the Christensen Center, and study lounge areas in the residence halls.

Augsburg appreciates your understanding as the need for social distancing to mitigate spread of the virus continues.
