July 30, 2007

Barnes and Noble at AugsburgTwo features of the new Oren Gateway Center which will be open to the public as well as the campus community are the Barnes and Noble at Augsburg bookstore and Nabo: A Neighborhood Café.

Barnes and Noble at Augsburg
The new Barnes and Noble at Augsburg bookstore replaces the old bookstore which was previously located in Christensen Center.  However, it has greatly expanded and will carry a larger selection of general reading material as well as textbooks. They will be able to place special orders like any other Barnes and Noble and will have outdoor patio tables.

The bookstore will also carry a great selection of children’s books and will begin hosting a children’s reading hour in late October.

Besides books, the store will also have on hand an expanded selection of convenience, health and beauty supplies, back packs, dorm products, school spirit clothing and a great selection of school spirit gifts.  Laura Soler, bookstore manager, said they will be stocking basic art supplies in the near future and have ordered a nice selection of Fair Trade “gift” items.

The Grand Opening is set for Oct. 12, however they will be open for business beginning Monday, July 30.

Nabo: A Neighborhood Café
Also set to open will be a new eatery called Nabo: A Neighborhood Café.  This new café, run by Sodexho, can seat 30 in the main dining area plus extra seating on the patio.  It will have a variety of dining choices, from grab and go food, to salads, specialty sandwiches, a pasta station with three types of sauces and vegetables to choose from, and a deli station with higher end meats, cheeses and breads.
