  Teacher Candidate Professional Networking Grants: Augsburg students interested in attending their professional conference are encouraged to seek a Teacher Candidate Professional Networking Grant to support their attendance.   Minn-Econ Conference and Teaching Awards: The Minn-Econ Conference and Teaching Awards will be held at the University of St. Catherine on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Registration and more information is available at: <http://z.umn.edu/MCEE-Updates>.

  The Society of Women Engineers Sponsors Steering STEM: Steering STEM focuses on combating bias in STEM education and the target audience is future teachers. It includes a speaker from the UMN faculty, a panel of engineering students, a catered lunch, and some hands on experience with science experiments that could be used in a classroom.   Student Teachers of Color Grant Support Available: Minnesotans of color who are enrolled in a student teaching program are encouraged to apply for grants up to $7,500. These scholarships were initiated by House Democrats and ultimately made possible with $1.5 million investment approved by the Minnesota Legislature. The Spring 2020 application deadline is December 3, 2019. The Office of Higher Education has more information regarding eligibility and the application process on their website (http://www.ohe.state.mn.us/mPg.cfm?pageID=2248).

  Long-term Substitute Needed in Minneapolis: Rachel Shaheen, a middle school science teacher and Augsburg Alumni., is seeking someone to take her MPS sixth grade science class temporarily (February-April). If interested, please contact Rachel Shaheen at: <Rachel.shaheen@mpls.k12.mn.us>.

  Camp TEKO is Looking for Staff for This Summer: Camp TEKO is looking for summer staff members.  You do not need to be Jewish to apply for these positions. The TEKO staff meet our campers at one of our bus stops in the morning around 8:15/8:30, spend the day at camp (on Lake Minnetonka) and come back on the busses around 4:00/4:15. The salary is determined based on experience and position. We are looking for fun, creative and open-minded staff who love working with kids!   Teach in Central Europe This Summer: The Central Europe Teacher Program is a summer program for bilingual junior/senior high school or elementary school students operated by ELCA Global Mission. Emphasis is for conversational English teachers but math, science, and geography teachers are needed also. All instruction is in the English language.   Work for OutFront Minnesota This Summer:  OutFront Minnesota is looking for staff for their education equity summer program. Three years of youth development work (minimum) and experience in building leadership and advocacy capacity and agency in youth is required.   Teach This Summer at LearningWorks: The Breakthrough Collaborative mission is to launch high potential, low-income middle school students on the path to college, while also inspiring talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education. At LearningWorks, we achieve this mission by using a “students-teaching-students” model. During our 9 weeks of summer programming, 35 talented high school and college students work as teachers, advisors, and mentors for 120 middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools. LearningWorks teachers are creative, diverse, intelligent, and highly motivated. They represent many academic and personal backgrounds, but share a commitment to students and closing the opportunity gap.
